🪴 Yes, you can absolutely achieve privacy without a "garden," even on a 5th-floor balcony! 

Trough planters are a great solution when you can't plant directly into the ground. Just remember, they need to be big enough to hold sufficient soil volume for your trees to thrive. 

💦 They'll also dry out much quicker than a regular garden, so they'll need regular watering, especially in the summer months.
Consider an irrigation system if you can!

🪴 DIY'ers, here's one for you!

We are excited to host this workshop next month in collaboration with Love Heart - Social Learning for 50+ social learning for over 50's! 

As far as we're concerned, statement planters are basically garden magic 🪄

The right pot can turn a boring corner into a focal point, frame your entrance, or bring a whole balcony to life.

Our founder Martin (potty about pots in case you hadn't noticed 🤪) is running a workshop on exactly that: how to choose pots, pair plants, and build container displays that actually thrive (not just look good for a week).

You'll walk away knowing how to pick the right size, style and material for your space, mix plants with confidence, and keep it all healthy through the seasons. 

If you're a downsizer or moving into an apartment but still want a garden, this is definitely worth your time!

We love growing lemons in pots 🍋, but don't be a lemon about it! Here's our top tips for growing lemons in pots:

1. Space to grow
A 60x60cm pot is a good starting point as lemons need enough soil volume to get all the nutrients they need.

2. Good food
Just like us, lemons need quality nutrition to grow big and strong. Monthly organic liquid fertiliser through the growing season, plus a quality organic fertiliser like blood and bone every second month.

3. Juice for the juice
Want juicy lemons? Stay on top of watering. A good soak every couple of days in summer as pots dry out fast.

4. Sun, sun, sun
Lemons need a full sun position—a minimum of 6 hours daily. Non-negotiable. ☀️

Get the inputs right, and the outputs take care of themselves! 🪴

🪴 Your planter displays don't have to be permanent!

This one's a winter display for a warm, sunny spot — built to be enjoyed for a season and switched out, the same way you'd change a vase of flowers.

Here's the recipe:
🌿Leptospermum 'Anne's Princess' - the tall floral pop
🌿Strobilanthes anisophyllus - deep purple through the middle
🌿Carex comans red form - textural contrast
🌿Vinca minor blue - the spiller over the edge
