With the news of Mauao’s devastating slips this week we found ourselves reflecting on all the work we’ve done on the maunga over the past 10 years.
All of our memories (see pics below) are filled with awe of his magnificence and appreciation that we get to do the work we do on the mount.
But right now….we are overwhelmed with sadness. Our hearts send so much love and awhi to the families who have lost their loved ones to Mauao.
We will be helping this coming week, installing fencing to cordon off the entire slip sites.
We still have awe and appreciation for Mauao, he is magnificent…and… this will be the first time we will do our mahi with a heavy heart.
*The rescue efforts have asked the public to stay away so please be respectful and don’t come down to Mauao for a nosey. Go through your camera roll for memories or follow a social media account that reports respectfully and doesn’t sensationalise. And send your supportive thoughts to the families. These are all good things you can do.
