We just checked in on a job completed three weeks ago: drone spraying a challenging, hilly paddock with Roundup, followed by broadcasting chicory seed and slug bait. The timing was perfect, catching a couple of good rainfalls. The establishment is looking excellent!

Finally a break in the weather 💨

Shot over to Te Kuiti this morning to release spray freshly planted manuka trees 🌳

Can't have them being smothered by all this grass growth.

The only photo I managed to take. Busy as spraying gorse over steep hill country in the morning while there was little wind and than following up spreading fertilizer over the same hillsides in the afternoon.

An often mis looked aspect of w**d control is the lack of nutrients in the soil being available for pasture to grow properly therefore reducing stock presence therefore allowing opportunistic w**ds such as gorse to flourish.

Given the nutrients, the grass will grow, the animals will come and the w**ds will struggle.

Over steeper farms, traditional aerial fertilizer applicators (planes, helicopters) sometimes struggle to get fertilizer in to some of the nooks and crannies. Over time these areas become seriously depleted in nutrients and as a result see little stock presence, especially in large extensive paddocks where break fencing is difficult.

Drones are an obvious solution to this problem. They're able to pop in and accurately treat these pockets that the plane couldn't get to and hopefully overtime w**ds will struggle to establish themselves again.

Still farming with an out of date map?

How do you nail grazing rotations, supercharge pasture growth, or plan that new irrigation system without a razor-sharp, aerial view of your land?

Answer: You DON’T.

Drone farm mapping is your ticket to dominating your operation. We’re talking high-res, 3D aerial scans that show every paddock, fence line, water trough, and even that boggy patch you keep ignoring.

Drones give you the full picture—way beyond what your boots-on-the-ground eyes can see. 📸

Here’s why you NEED this:

✅ Grazing Like a Legend – Spot overgrazed or underused pastures in HD. Rotate smarter, grow more grass, feed more stock. Boom.

✅ Slash Waste – Quit chucking fertiliser where it’s not needed. Drones map soil variability, so you hit the sweet spots with precision.

✅ Plan Like a Mastermind – New fences, water systems, or sheds? Your drone map shows exactly where to build for max impact. No guesswork.

✅ Stay Ahead of the Regs – NZ’s environmental rules are no joke. A drone map keeps you compliant with water quality and land use laws, no sweat.

But here’s the kicker: Get that drone map printed BIG and slap it on your office or smoko room wall. 🖼️ It’s not just a map—it’s your farm’s COMMAND CENTRE. Every morning, you and the team can eyeball the lay of the land, plan the day’s moves, and track progress like pros. It’s a game-changer for team buy-in and keeping everyone on the same page. No more scribbled notes or “I thought you meant that paddock” stuff-ups.

NZ’s pastoral farming is brutal—weather, markets, and regulations hit hard. But a drone map? It’s your superpower to control what you CAN control. 💪 Don’t wait for the next dry spell or price crash to realise you’re operating blind.

🌿 Calling all NZ Farmers! 🌳 Did you know you can earn carbon credits by restoring native bush on your land through the Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS)? Planting native species like mānuka or kānuka could bring in $700–$900 per hectare (based on 2022 prices)! 💸 To qualify, your bush needs to cover 1+ hectare, with trees growing over 5m tall and 30% canopy cover, established after 1989.

📍 Wondering how to measure your native bush area accurately? Drone mapping is a game-changer—fast, precise, and centimetre-level detailed! 🚁 For expert help, check out Agridroneco (www.agridroneco.co.nz/farm-mapping-nz/)—they specialize in affordable farm mapping for ag land, native bush, and forestry. Get high-res aerial imagery, tailored maps (from $590 + per-ha fees), and deliverables like PDFs or shapefiles to nail those ETS measurements.

Register with MPI, submit your emissions returns, and start earning while boosting biodiversity! 🌱

📲 Visit MPI’s ETS forestry page for details and consult a carbon expert to maximize your credits. Let’s grow native bush and profit together! 💚
