The biggest flood in 100 years…Tasman, we’re thinking of you 🌧️

What a wild time it’s been for our region. We hope everyone’s flood clean-up is going as smoothly (and safely) as it can. Our thoughts are with everyone affected — families, farms, orchards, and businesses alike.

We’ve been out at the farm over the weekend getting stuck into the clean up, with the boss himself (little Finn) overseeing operations. Safe to say morale was high, even if the mud was higher!

If you’re tackling flood recovery and need a hand with land clearing or digger work, feel free to reach out. We have 7.5 ton digger, 4wd tractor and a large tip trailer available to help where we can.

Take care out there 🚜

What happens if you leave it too long?

We’ve seen it all — and one of the most common issues?…Waiting too long to clear your land.

Here’s what can happen when that bushy corner or overgrown paddock gets left for “next season”:
🌳 Access gets harder, not easier
🔥 Fire risk increases with dry scrub buildup
💧 Drainage issues pop up from blocked flow
😵‍💫 The job becomes bigger (and more expensive)

Clearing early = more control, less chaos.
The best landowners don’t wait until it’s urgent — they plan ahead.

Need help making a plan for your property? We’re happy to give honest advice — Send us a message and let’s get it sorted together.

Let’s talk stick racking — and why how you clear matters just as much as how fast you do it.

We often get asked, “Why use an excavator for stick racking instead of a dozer?”

Here’s the difference:
🚜 Dozer:
Pushes sticks and topsoil together. It might look quicker, but you end up losing valuable soil down the slope — not ideal if you want to replant or manage erosion later on.

🦾 Excavator:
Lifts sticks out of the dirt, leaving the soil mostly undisturbed. It takes a little more time, but it protects your topsoil — and your land.

✅ Better for the environment
✅ Better for the long-term use of your block
✅ Cleaner result overall

If you’ve got land that needs cleaning up, but you don’t want to destroy what’s underneath — we’ve got the gear (and the method) to do it right.

Thinking of digging a pond? Read this first…

Not all ponds are created equal — and if you’re planning to dig one, there’s a bit more to it than just dropping a bucket and hoping for the best.

We’ve helped create ponds for all sorts of reasons:
💧Stock water
💧Wildlife and habitat
💧Property beautification and landscaping

Before we start, we always check the essentials:
✅ Soil type and how well it holds water
✅ Natural drainage and overflow planning
✅ Depth and shape (especially if it’s for stock or visual impact)
✅ Access and maintenance considerations

Whether it’s a practical water source or something to enhance the look and feel of your block, we’ll help you get it right from the ground up.

Got a spot in mind? Let’s chat 💬

What can a digger really do? …(you might be surprised)

Think a digger just moves dirt? Think again. Here’s what we’re knocking over week to week:

✅ Trenching for water lines or power
✅ Site levelling for sheds or tanks
✅ Small scale stump removal
✅ Digging ponds
✅ Firebreaks & fence line prep

This was a job for did for a client digging a series of holes to set up new water tanks on their new property — quick, clean and ready to install.

Big or small, we bring the right gear (and experience) to get it done right — first go. Have a job in mind? We’re just a message (or phone call) away 👌🏽

The digger’s parked up for the next couple of weeks as we shift focus to a couple of exciting building projects — one for a private client and another for a government agency.

What many don’t know is that James isn’t just behind the controls — he’s also a licensed LBP builder, bringing a wide skillset to every job we take on.

We’ll be back into the earthworks soon, but our calendar’s filling up fast. If you’ve got a project in mind — big or small — now’s the perfect time to reach out and get the ball rolling 🚜

Sometimes you can’t see the wood for the trees🌲

We’re heading into week 2 of this scrub-clearing project, and the transformation speaks for itself — from dense and overgrown (photo 1) to open and taking shape (photo 2).

There’s still more work ahead, but we’re well on the way. Keep an eye out — more progress updates coming soon 🚜

Clearing scrub isn’t just about tidying up — it’s a smart investment 💰

Overgrown paddocks reduce grazing capacity, limit productivity, and can lead to higher maintenance costs down the track.

By reclaiming unused or underperforming land, you’re increasing the value and efficiency of your property — often without needing to buy more land. That’s a long-term saving with real returns.

We’ve just started another transformation in Golden Bay, turning thick scrub into usable pasture — and the impact is immediate.

A one-off job now can save thousands in lost production later.

If you’re looking to get more from your land, scrub clearing might be the first step 👌🏽

Another paddock being reclaimed — scrub clearing underway 👌🏽

We’ve kicked off another job today, transforming overgrown land back into productive paddock.

If you’re in Bainham or the wider Golden Bay area, now’s a great time to get in touch — we’ve got a machine operating locally for the next few weeks and availability for more work.

Whether it’s scrub clearing, track maintenance, or general excavator work — give us a call and let’s make it happen.

Watch this space for the transformation — we’ll share the progress as it unfolds!

Water running wild? 💦

Here’s what you can do before calling in the big gear 🚜

After decent rain (like this Easter weekend), managing water on your property is key to preventing long-term damage. Here are a few simple ways to take control before it becomes a major job:

1. Clear Blocked Drains & Culverts
A build-up of leaves, sticks or debris can stop water flowing where it’s meant to — leading to erosion, boggy areas, or track washouts.

2. Check Dam Overflows & Spillways
Make sure your overflow area isn’t blocked, especially after heavy rain. Backed-up dams can overflow in the wrong spot and cause damage.

3. Maintain Vegetation in Drainage Paths
Grass or ground cover slows water flow and helps reduce erosion. Avoid slashing too short in drainage zones.

Sometimes though, the job’s just too big — or the water’s gone where it shouldn’t one too many times. That’s where we come in 👌🏽

Landwork Solutions can help with:
• Contour banks & diversion drains
• Dam repairs or desilting
• Grading & drainage for access tracks
• Larger-scale erosion control

If you spot something that needs more than a shovel and wheelbarrow, get in touch. We’re happy to come out, take a look, and give you some honest advice on what needs doing.

Local. Reliable. Ready for the tough stuff 💪🏽
