I’ve been recharging by this pool in Fiji so naturally it needed to be painted. I’ll do a few more touch ups to finish the trees, but I thoroughly enjoyed today and love this little study.

Notice the purple tape? I had to secure the easel as the wind picked up around noon.

My beach side neighbour Nicole from Sydney came over as I was finishing up and this little beauty may find its way home with her…

If we don’t connect tomorrow (we’re flying home) thanks for loving my work and enjoy your trip to Antarctica next year!

Sometimes the best moments aren’t when it’s just normal blue sky, it’s worth remembering to look out on the horizon when the weather changes to see the dramatic light.

Yes, I had to take a little walk away from the poolside, but wasn’t it worth it to capture this feeling?

It looked like the rain was coming in Fiji, but it passed us by and the night was so still and beautiful.

I’m on vacation in Fiji where there’s an outstanding array of tropical plants and trees.

Composition rules tend to nudge us never to pop things right in the middle, but this beauty has captured my heart so there he is, front and centre.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been taking reference photos and I pulled up this cloudscape from a beautiful summer’s day in Alberta, Canada a few hours drive from where I was born.

Recreating these places lets me linger there again. I love these little journeys. Hope you enjoy it too.

Here’s just a snippet of a new work in progress. I’m having a play with some new colours as I’m working towards my solo exhibition at Artspost in Kirikiriroa-Hamilton this November.

Still a work in progress, but I’m happy with how this seascape feels. It was inspired by the sunrise last Saturday when my friend came to Pukehina for a little art retreat.

Art has taken me places and introduced me to new people and experiences that are enriching me each day! I’m thankful for my journey and being taught to SEE (and sea) differently.

This painting and others will be at my solo exhibition at in November. Please join me at the opening on November 28, 2026 from 11 am to 12:30 pm.

I may be quiet on the socials at the moment, but that’s because I’m focusing on my studio time.

Tonight in Heretaunga Hastings (Hawkes Bay, NZ)) at the Hastings Community Arts Centre, the Mauri Toi exhibition opened and my wonderful artist friend sent me the most wonderful text. My painting celebrating Matariki has a red sold sticker!! I’m thrilled it’s going to a new collector and can be cherished during the upcoming Matariki celebrations.

I was inspired to paint this scene because nothing brings people together better than a bonfire on the beach. This coming Matariki on July 11th, you know I’ll be out on Pukehina beach again welcoming the Māori New Year and remembering those who are no longer journeying with us on earth.

A really important part of being an artist is connecting with other artists and learning from people who have dedicated their careers to master the art of painting or printmaking. I’ve attended a few of .0 ‘s workshops and not only is he a genuinely kind person, I’ve seen him help artists (like myself) push through creative boundaries. Seeing his solo exhibition at gallery last night was wonderful.

I brought my daughter and her flatmate along to their first gallery exhibition opening and they loved it.

I highly recommend going to see this exhibition at Sanderson Contemporary Art in Newmarket, Auckland.

I’m on a roadie today to visit gallery where I’ll be having my solo exhibition this coming November. Opening is on Saturday, November 28, 2026 at 11am.

I’m going to sit in the Margot Philips gallery and plan some of my pieces, do a few sketches and get a visual on how my artwork will feel in there.
