🌹 Two years, a lot of patience, and a whole lot of pruning…

When I first took on this garden two years ago, these roses had been left to their own devices for many, many years. They were incredibly overgrown, with layers of old, dead wood and very little structure.

The first year was all about restoration — a complete cutback, carefully removing years of dead and unproductive growth and giving the roses the opportunity to start again.

By the second year, we were able to focus on creating a strong framework. The main canes were carefully selected and trained to fan out over the tennis court and across the pergola, creating structure, movement and, eventually, a stunning display of roses overhead 🌹
