I think one of my favourite things about doing this is being able to work alongside and spend time with my son and watching him and the others that join our journey improve slowly but surely with a little nudge they will get to were they need to be🌲🌲🌲 most parents work years of their life away from family to be able to provide for them and to be able to retire which are very good reasons to be doing so but they miss out on so much🌲🌲🌲I’m blessed that I’m able to be a big part of my sons life and am thankful to all the people in Oamaru that have given us and the young fullahs that have worked and still do with us opportunities to work in our community and grow and learn🌲🌲🌲I wish sometimes that elders like myself who have children could at least once experience what it’s like to see their young people not only improve themselves but also others around them🌲🌲🌲The consensus for the majority of Māori and English males young and old in N.Z have a tendency towards a life of hardship and regret and has been for a long long time it is my hope that stuff like that changes in the future🌲🌲🌲Today was long and tiring we all put in the mahi removing green waste and shifting dirt for when we are next on this site like all jobs we do this jobs no different definitely top notch🌲🌲🌲this old man is tired grumpy and sore so before I head off to bed I’ll leave you with the thought of today ~ What can I do today to improve my tomorrow we hope everyone enjoyed the sun as always happy mowing🌲🌲🌲

With all the negatives about young people that gets said in oamaru aswell as other towns im glad that i get to show and say the opposit side of thoes conversations🌲🌲🌲i wish that after conversations about young people going out at night doing negative stuff or even dureing the day that people who have the time or are able to make the time learn skills themselfs or do something that give the youth or anyone struggling in our comunities a way to show the positives in them and for things I do myself to become common place in peoples everyday lives🌲🌲🌲Today was a big day of lifting and moving and Hoani stepped up and instead of sitting back like he usually does for me to speak to the client when we have a new job then pass along what needs to be done he actually had a bit of time directing us and leading us and speaking with the client himself🌲🌲🌲I’m glad that the new young fullah with us currently fits in well and is able to see the men he works along side also struggle with stuff sometimes and if you have the correct people around you that good things can be accomplished and the community can see that instead of just young people out being mischief some are actually making our community better one job at a time🌲🌲🌲 we even had Shane back with us for the afternoon which hasn’t happened in a while so was good to see🌲🌲🌲we hope everyone enjoyed the sun and as always happy mowing🌲🌲🌲

Afternoon all hope everyone’s keeping safe if anyone’s stuck an needing a tow to get cars moved or help to give their property a tidy up or channels dug to help drain the water off their property give us a bell even if needing someone checkd on ya can’t get a hold of and are wanting someone to go check they are ok give us a bell we’re more than happy to help free of charge for the next few days we can’t take stuff away free but we can help organise stuff dig stuff stack stuff ect so it’s not so hard on people stay safe as always happy mowing🌲🌲🌲

Was a good day in the sun 🌲🌲🌲had a new young fullah in with us today that wanted to see what sort of stuff we do he followed direction well and got his hands dirty along side the older boys🌲🌲🌲Lukas came back to help us (that fullahs definitely a legend)before he went to work in the north end🌲🌲🌲haveing a good team that follows direction that you get along with definitely helps improve the day makes the work faster and way easier my shoulders are sore from swinging the chain saw because apparently I’m old🤣🤣🤣gotta go back to take clippings away when the skip gets there all in all definitely a good day as always happy mowing🌲🌲🌲

While I’m on the mend after getting a tooth out yesterday and the boys get a couple days break I went out to help another dad get his go kart running and spoke to him about our work and what else needs to be done to his kart to get it running mint things like this I love doing as it’s something I spent years doing with my oldest brother in temuka in his sheds🌲🌲🌲Nia is almost finished having to use her electric ride on car we got her so we will be putting it up to give away to a deserving young person or solo dad in the coming weeks if you know anybody needing any work done big or small give us a yell an we will get on to it🌲🌲🌲we hope everyone enjoyed the sun hopefully we get more tomorrow as always happy mowing🌲🌲🌲

We’ve spent the last few days resetting this yard it’s definitely had its obstacles but we managed to get it down to a maintainable height just a few more tweaks and will be all finished we had an extra hand over the few days which has been a big help the before and afters don’t do it justice there been a lot of good sized spiders in amongst it all I’ll tell ya that🕸️🕸️🕸️ hope everyone’s enjoyed the warm weather today as always happy mowing🌲🌲🌲

Ive just realised I haven’t introduced myself or my son yet.Hi my name is Nathan😁 and the young fullah standing next to me is my son Hoani (boi)😁.In 2023 we moved down here from leeston.We spent the first 6 months of being here getting his younger sister Nia sorted and settled into school in the north end.then started to focus on Hoani as school wasn’t for him he was 16 at the time and sitting around doing nothing.We got him work at the lolly factory but due to how he learns and needs to be trained it wasn’t a place suitable for him so he resigned.We then struggled to find him something else todo work wise so we went out to look for some yard work🌲🌲🌲.I already had a few years working yards and general handyman maintenance in Timaru by myself and as we got jobs working yards around Oamaru Kakanui and Maheno I would pass along my skill set to him.After getting ourselfs established as a solid father and son team that are good workers with high attention to detail with affordable prices I decided this is it instead of putting our heart and souls into someone else’s creation myself with him along side me created Boys Garden and Lawn-mowing Oamaru in 2024(his name sake).Fast forward to 2026 we are now past the 2 year mark🌲🌲🌲in that time we have been able to work in and around all parts of the community as well as train and help other young fullahs develop skills and get a head in life and learn a thing or 2 aswell as learning a few things ourselfs along the way🌲🌲🌲.The majority of my roll is to get the work teach the skills needed to him and for him todo the work and I check at the end to make sure the standard is high in turn the customers are happy the work looks highly skilled and he has been able to pass along skills to other young fullahs that have workd with us as-well any way that’s us hope everyone enjoyed this afternoons sun though the wind was a tad nippy as always happy mowing🌲🌲🌲
