Better building starts from the ground up.

Today we finished framing around the shower waste. With the waste positioned where a joist ran, we doubled up the supporting joists and installed joist hangers to carry the load around the opening.

We also finished installing the Expol underfloor insulation.

A renovation is an opportunity to improve how a home feels and performs, alongside how it looks. Underfloor insulation helps reduce heat loss through the floor, making the home more comfortable.

You might never see these details once the job’s finished, but you’ll live with the difference.

Friday update from Lincoln Road 🔨

A look at where we started and how it’s coming together now.

The kitchen is in, bathroom fitted off, flooring down, and we’re finishing the exterior baseboards and working through the final details.

This home has come a long way. Great to see all the work coming together, inside and out.

Our very own Adrian Clough, owner & lead builder, talented craftsman, all round good guy… and apparently a man who has absolutely no idea what to do with his hands when asked to smile for a photo 🥲

He puts his clients first, takes huge pride in his work, and genuinely cares about getting things right - which is a pretty big part of what makes Peak what it is ❤️

BUILDING BETTER | You never quite know what you're going to find.

Renovations have a habit of reminding you that the plans only tell part of the story.

Once an existing home starts getting opened up, you can uncover decades of previous work, deterioration, unusual construction details… and apparently the occasional indoor garden. 😂
This is why renovation work needs a bit more than simply following a set of drawings.

You need to understand what you're looking at, work out what needs addressing, and adapt the plan properly before covering everything back up.
Because building better starts with understanding the details.

The anodised trim on this internal corner looks sharp against the natural Weathertex cladding. A small detail, but one that makes the whole finish feel considered.

Another milestone ticked off on our Inglewood renovation 🔨

Starting to look like a house again 👌

Linings are now up on our Inglewood renovation, with the plasterers getting started tomorrow.

The have also worked in a nice detail along the way, a recessed LED strip through the ceiling that’ll become a pretty cool feature once everything’s finished.

Always a good stage of a renovation, from here the rooms start changing pretty quickly.

What happens behind the walls matters.

Insulation is one of those parts of a renovation that eventually gets covered up and forgotten about, but it plays a massive role in how the finished home actually feels to live in.

On this full-house renovation, we’ve upgraded the insulation throughout as part of bringing an older home up to a much better standard.

It’s not the most exciting stage to look at, but getting these details right now means a warmer, more comfortable and more efficient home once everything is lined and finished.

A lot of the best parts of a renovation are the things you’ll never see again.

Pretty cool to see Peak Building Taranaki featured in the latest Business Central Magazine.

It was a great opportunity to share a bit about what we’re building the business around: quality renovations, good communication, and taking the time to get the details right.
