This filter had only been in service for 4 months!

How often should I change my water filters?

Tank water quality can vary considerably from property to property depending on rainfall, roof condition, gutters, trees and what’s getting into the tank.

Some filters may last 12 months, while others can become heavily loaded much sooner.

Many homeowners don’t realise there is a problem until they notice reduced flow from taps and showers, or a drop in water pressure around the house.

Bird droppings, leaves and other debris washing from the roof into the tank can all affect how quickly filters become loaded.

A blocked filter can reduce flow throughout the house and put extra strain on your water system.

This one is a good example of why regular servicing is important.

One thing a lot of people on tank water don’t realise is that UV systems can still appear to be working even when the UV lamp is no longer properly effective.

Most UV lamps should generally be replaced every 12 months, even if the water still looks clear and the light is on.

With so many homes around Mangawhai on tank water, it’s something worth keeping on top of, especially heading into the wetter months later in the year.
