Why Solassure Certification is important to you.
When you're spending $10,000 to $50,000 + on a solar system, you're not just buying panels and an inverter. You're buying a 25 to 30 year relationship with the company who put them on your roof. And in an industry where anyone can hand you a quote, that distinction matters a lot.
Goodyer Solar is a Solassure Certified Installer and we want to tell you exactly what that means, because it's not a badge you can just buy.
So what is Solassure?
Solassure is New Zealand's solar and energy storage quality mark, built and powered by the Sustainable Energy Association of NZ (SEANZ). It's designed to help homeowners choose the right solar provider with confidence. The certification covers six areas that actually matter when things need to go right or when they go wrong.
Technical quality. Sales and ethics. Customer service. Warranty expectations. Local support. Long-term guidance.
Certification isn't a one-off. It's reviewed every year. That means we don't just meet the standard once and forget about it, we have to keep earning it. If we stop meeting the mark, we lose it. It's that simple.
What does it actually mean for you as a homeowner?
It means transparent pricing, clear performance expectations, and absolutely no hidden surprises. It means if something goes wrong with workmanship, with a warranty claim, with how the system was designed, there's a clear accountability pathway. It means the company putting its name on your quote is being held to a standard, not just telling you what you want to hear.
It also means your quote is formatted correctly for bank green loan drawdown because major NZ banks require your installer to be SEANZ-certified before they'll release funds. No certification, no green loan. It's that straightforward.
How do you spot a certified installer?
You can find the Solassure mark on certified installers' websites, vehicles, quotes, signage and business cards. Every certified installer in New Zealand is listed in the Solassure directory. If a company displays the mark and is not listed, they are not certified.
So if you're comparing quotes and one company has the mark and another doesn't, that's not a minor detail. That's the difference between an installer who's been independently assessed against NZ's highest solar standards, and one who hasn't.
We're proud to be certified. Not because it's good for marketing, but because it reflects the way we've always operated, honest advice, quality products, and we're here for the long run in Marlborough.
