DOCUMENTS YOU MUST HAVE AS A LANDLORD
Many people focus only on building the house and forget the importance of documentation. But let me tell you something from real experience, a house without proper documents can become a future problem.
As a landlord, these are some important documents you should have and protect properly.
SURVEY PLAN
This shows the exact location, measurement, and boundaries of your land. It helps confirm ownership and prevents boundary disputes.
DEED OF ASSIGNMENT
This is one of the major documents that legally transfers ownership of the property to you. Without it, proving ownership can become difficult.
CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY (C of O)
This is a strong government-backed document showing legal ownership rights over the land. If your property has it, keep it safe.
BUILDING APPROVAL
Your approved building plan is very important. It shows that your building was approved by the appropriate authority and complies with regulations.
RECEIPTS AND AGREEMENTS
Payment receipts, land agreements, and transaction records should be kept properly. Never throw them away because βthe house is already built.β
STRUCTURAL DRAWINGS AND ARCHITECTURAL DRAWINGS
Many people ignore these after construction, but they are still important for renovations, future extensions, or structural checks.
TENANCY AGREEMENT
