CONTINUATION OF CHRISTIANS AND POLITICS.... PRT 2
Mr. Okafor reminded Chinedu of several biblical examples. Joseph served as Prime Minister in Egypt and used his position to save millions from famine. Daniel held high political office in Babylon while remaining faithful to God. Nehemiah served as governor and rebuilt Jerusalem despite opposition. Deborah judged Israel with wisdom, and King David sought to govern according to God's heart.
These examples changed Chinedu's understanding. He realized that God has often used faithful men and women in positions of government to accomplish His purposes.
Inspired, Chinedu began by educating members of his community about responsible voting. He encouraged people not to sell their votes for money or gifts but to examine the character, competence, and integrity of candidates.
He organized town hall discussions where Christians prayed for peaceful elections and encouraged citizens to participate lawfully in the democratic process.
Over time, community leaders noticed his honesty and invited him to serve on the local development committee.
There, he insisted on transparency in public spending and ensured that funds allocated for schools, roads, and healthcare were properly used. Though some corrupt officials opposed him, his integrity earned the respect of many.
Years later, Chinedu contested for a seat in the state legislature. His campaign was unlike others. Instead of distributing money to buy votes, he presented clear plans for education, job creation, infrastructure, and youth empowerment. He refused to spread falsehoods about his opponents and remained committed to biblical values throughout the campaign.
