There are different reasons and causes of building collapse in a building...but in summary research have proven the major cause of building collapse are majorly due to PROFESSIONAL NEGLIGENCE TO PRECISION...
starting from client, engineers, builders to supervisors....
Due to lack of proper professional regulations a lot of quacks are flooding into the building industry parading as Engineers and builders...
Clients fall victims to them due to their cheap bill of quantity (BoQ) , price and quotations...
Guess work becomes their routine,
No Geotechnical information,
No Proper design
Poor supervision...
When you question them or the design behind their work ,, their response is always same or similar....
" I have done this job for ages",,,
" I have build there and there....etc..
They are always ignorance of different soil behaviors ( bearing capacity) to different building designs.....
This is where foundation problems comes in... carrying out guess work on foundation and building, especially high rising buildings or sophisticated designs is unacceptable and professionally illegal.....
That you build 3 or more storey building in IMO state with 1.2m dept pad/ raft foundation doesn't mean exactly same in other states...A proper Geotechnical information must be achieved to ascertain the soil bearing capacity for proper foundation design...if not any other concept are guess work,, or waste of materials.......
When your building start developing unnecessary cracks due to foundation problems,, you don't need measonry...you need a structural Engineer...to ascertain the cause, source and provide structural solutions...in most cases demolition is the best option.... 😎.
