FG Announces Mandatory 2026 COMPRO CBT for Federal Workers, Fixes July 22 Exam Date

Abuja, Nigeria – The Federal Government has scheduled Wednesday, July 22, 2026, for the conduct of the Junior and Senior Compulsory Confirmation/Promotion (COMPRO) Computer-Based Test (CBT) Examinations for eligible officers in the Federal Public Service.

The announcement was contained in a circular issued by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF), dated June 16, 2026, and addressed to Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), including top government officials and heads of federal institutions.

According to the circular, the examination is a statutory requirement for the confirmation and career advancement of officers in the Federal Public Service, in line with the provisions of Chapter 3 of the Public Service Rules.

Both Junior and Senior Officers are expected to sit for the examination on the same date at designated CBT centres across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The government directed all MDAs to ensure that eligible officers are duly nominated and registered within the approved timeline, stressing that the registration portal will close on June 30, 2026.

It warned that late registrations would not be accepted and urged agencies to promptly communicate examination details and instructions to all affected candidates.

The circular also stated that only accredited candidates who have completed all registration requirements will be allowed to participate in the examination.

In a directive specifically affecting security personnel, the government instructed that all Police and Paramilitary officers must appear in their official uniforms inside the examination hall.

The CBT examination will be conducted at approved centres managed by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to ensure transparency, credibility and a seamless examination process nationwide.

The circular was signed by Mrs. Nkiruka B. Jones-Nebo, Permanent Secretary, Career Management Office, on behalf of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.

*Federal Polytechnic Nekede Proposes Strategic Collaboration With AIRBDA*

The Public Private Unit (3PU) of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri, Imo State, paid a courtesy visit to the MD/CEO Anambra Imo River Basin Development Authority (AIRBDA); Rt Hon Emeka Nduka.

The leader of the team, Dr Ejike Ibecheozor; the Acting Director of the 3PU explained that the visit was meant to showcase the brand of the Instituition as well explore the possibility of a collaboration with AIBRDA as is their mandate.

He presented the proposal stating the areas in which the Unit was seeking partnership with AIRBDA.

The MD/CEO AIRBDA, Rt Hon Emeka Nduka who received the team at the Authority's Boardroom, in his response expressed delight with the visit and assured the them that their proposal will be reviewed in line with the mandate and operations of the River Basins.

FEDERAL GOVERNMENT DECLARES JUNE 12, 2026 PUBLIC HOLIDAY IN COMMEMORATION OF DEMOCRACY DAY

The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Friday, June 12, 2026, a public holiday in commemoration of Democracy Day. The announcement was made by the Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government.

June 12 remains a significant day in Nigeria’s history in honour of the courage, resilience and sacrifices of Nigerians whose efforts made democratic governance possible in this country. Their legacy continues to inform the values and responsibilities of the Nigerian state.

The Honourable Minister reaffirmed the Federal Government's commitment to the preservation of democratic ideals, including the rule of law, transparency, accountability and inclusive governance. The administration has pledged to uphold these principles without compromise.

The Ministry of Interior, in coordination with relevant security agencies, will continue to maintain and strengthen internal security measures to protect lives and property across the country. A secure and stable environment, the Minister noted, is essential to the health of any democracy and to the broader project of national development.

The Minister called on all Nigerians to observe the holiday as an opportunity for civic reflection, urging citizens to recommit to lawful conduct, responsible engagement and national unity.

"As we mark this historic day, every Nigerian is encouraged to remain law-abiding, uphold the institutions that sustain our democracy, and remember that the strength of any democracy lies ultimately in the character of its citizens," the Minister said.

AIRBDA WELCOMES SONGHAI MASTER-CARD FOUNDATION BATCH THREE YEAR FOUR TRAINEES

As part of the Federal Government's resolve to ensure food security and fight unemployment, Anambra Imo Rivers Development Authority (AIRDBA) in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation and Songhai -MasterCard Foundation is again training youths in various agricultural sector areas like Songhai model farming, fishery and other associated interest at the Agbala Integrated Farms domiciled in the authority's headquarters.

The Managing Director Right Honourable Emeka Nduka and management of AIRBDA welcomed the Songhai -MasterCard Foundation Batch Three Year Four Trainees at the Agbala Integrated Farms, AIRBDA headquarters.

The event had in attendance the MD, RT. Hon. Emeka Nduka , the Executive director Finance and Admin Hon. Mrs. Priscilla Nwaebonyi , Agric Services, Barrister Noble Ojigwe, Director Information/Protocol, Dr. Chidi Amaliri, Head of Department Agric Services, Mr. O'Brien Akudu, Songhai Representative Mr. prudence Leladel and others.

Speaking, the MD AIRBDA congratulated the participants, who, out of several applicants were selected because of their dedication and commitment to agriculture, adding that they should see agriculture as a business, innovation and a pathway to wealth creation.

He commended the Songhai -MasterCard Foundation for their support and collaboration, reiterating that the initiative aligns with the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's reform to enable food security for the nation, and in utmost need in the country's development outlook.

Hon. Nduka then admonished the participants to use this avenue to network,
challenge their facilitators, and use the unique skills acquired to impact positively on their lives and society at large, promising to provide necessary valuables required to make their stay comfortable and memorable.

The Songhai -MasterCard representative, Mr. Prudence Leladel, in his address encouraged them to imbibe the modern Songhai farming model and also improve on themselves to impact positively on the society after training.

He further explained that the programme is more focused on females, and for this reason Songhai International prohibits certain attitudes like indecent dressing, speaking and engaging in any sexual relationship in the premises within the three months training period to avoid distractions, and that regular checks will be carried to ensure adherence.

AIRBDA INAUGURATES ACTU, PARTNERS ICPC TO STRENGTHEN TRANSPARENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY

The Anambra Imo River Basin Development Authority (AIRBDA) has inaugurated its Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) Committee as part of efforts to strengthen institutional integrity, transparency, and accountability in line with Federal Government directives.

The event, which also featured a sensitization program by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), underscores ongoing reforms aimed at promoting ethical compliance and good governance across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

In his opening remarks, the Managing Director, Rt. Hon. Barr. Anthony Emeka Nduka, who was represented by the Executive Director, Engineering Directorate, Hon. Evaristus Asadu, described the inauguration as a critical step toward entrenching a culture of integrity within the Authority. He noted that the ACTU would serve as an internal mechanism for promoting transparency, preventing corruption, and strengthening accountability in all operations.

He charged members of the committee, headed by Mr. Gerald Amanze, to carry out their responsibilities with professionalism, courage, and fairness, emphasizing their role in system review, staff sensitization, and preliminary investigation of corrupt practices. He also called on all staff to support the initiative by upholding ethical standards and embracing transparency in their daily activities.

In her presentation, the Deputy Director of ICPC and Head of Public Enlightenment Mrs. Chinwe Egbeocha, identified corruption as a major obstacle to sustainable development, highlighting its negative impact on governance, infrastructure, and public trust.She noted that factors such as weak institutional controls and systemic loopholes contribute to corrupt practices, and emphasized the need for collective responsibility in addressing the challenge.

The Commission also highlighted the need for continued institutional strengthening within AIRBDA, particularly in areas of transparency, compliance with established procedures, and efficient project implementation. It emphasized the importance of reinforcing internal controls, promoting accountability, and enhancing operational effectiveness to ensure optimal service delivery.

Staff were then encouraged to adhere strictly to established rules, uphold ethical standards, and utilize appropriate channels to report any observed irregularities, with assurances of whistleblower protection.

Speaking also, Mr. Ikeoha Chukwuma, Head of System Study and Review ICPC, further reiterated the provisions of the 2023 ACTU Standing Orders, which provide a comprehensive framework for the operation of ACTUs across MDAs.

The guidelines empower the units to conduct corruption risk assessments, monitor compliance with public service rules, coordinate whistleblowing mechanisms, and promote ethical standards through continuous sensitization and training.

Management of AIRBDA were also enjoined to provide the necessary support, including funding and institutional backing, to enable the ACTU function effectively, while demonstrating zero tolerance for corruption.

Highlight of the occasion was the inauguration and admiration of oath by Barr.Ikechukwu Ashirigba, Head of Legal ICPC on the Twelve Member Committee who were meticulously selected from key units within the Authority marking a significant milestone in AIRBDA’s commitment to enhancing transparency and establishing a seamless collaboration between AIRBDA and ICPC for a more accountable and corruption free work environment.

Also present at the occasion where the Executive Director Finance and Administration Hon. Priscilla Nwaebonyi, Mr. Tom Ezekiel, Head of Administration ICPC, Ms Amarachi Anayanwu, Asst Head System Study and Review ICPC, Management and staff of the Authority.
