BORNO ADOPTS GUBIO AS APC CONSENSUS GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATE
Abuja, Nigeria —
The Governor of Borno State, Babagana Umara Zulum, on Thursday presented Engr. Mustafa Gubio as the All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus governorship candidate to the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Governor Zulum described Gubio’s emergence as the result of extensive consultations among party stakeholders across the state, noting that the decision reflects unity within the APC in Borno.
He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his leadership and continued support to both Borno State and the party.
“I wish to express my profound gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the leadership he is providing in the country and for the enormous support to Borno State as well as the APC, which has been unprecedented,” Zulum said.
“I would also like to commend the President, who has been instrumental in the emergence of Gubio as the consensus candidate.”
The governor also acknowledged the Vice President’s role in strengthening party unity in the state and supporting the emergence of the consensus candidate.
Zulum further appreciated APC leadership at all levels, party stakeholders, and the people of Borno State for their prayers, support, and commitment, which contributed to Gubio’s emergence.
Earlier in the week, Governor Zulum officially unveiled Engr. Mustapha Gubio as his preferred successor after purchasing the APC Nomination and Expression of Interest forms for the 2027 governorship election.
