Have you seen the DJI Matrice 400 RTK? DJI's new enterprise flagship, and it's a significant step up from the M350 RTK it replaces.

The M400 delivers up to 59 minutes of forward flight time with a payload installed, a 6kg maximum payload capacity, and RTK positioning accurate to 1cm horizontal without needing ground control points. It's equipped with an omnidirectional obstacle sensing system combining rotating LiDAR, mmWave radar in six directions, and full-colour vision sensors, built for reliable navigation even in complex environments.

The platform supports up to four payloads simultaneously, letting operators combine sensors like thermal, LiDAR, and communication systems in a single flight, and it's compatible with Zenmuse H30T, L2, L3, and P1 payloads. It also carries an IP55 rating, built to operate in rain, dust, and challenging field conditions.

Meet the Foif RTS332, a total station built for surveyors who want speed and precision without unnecessary complexity in the field.

It runs on endless drives for two-handed collimation, so targeting is faster and smoother than older friction-drive designs. Reflectorless measurement reaches up to 600m, giving you accurate distance readings without needing a prism on every point, useful on sites where placing one isn't practical or safe. Angle accuracy comes in at 2 seconds, with a dual-axis compensator keeping readings reliable even when the setup isn't perfectly level.

Data transfer is flexible, USB, RS-232C, SD card, or optional Bluetooth for cable-free connection to your data collector. Onboard application programs cover the full range of daily fieldwork, staking out, free station setups, COGO, area and volume, and more, all built to speed up work on site rather than slow it down.

The first step to a perfect survey starts before you take a single measurement. Setting up your total station correctly.

Centre the instrument over your control point using the optical or laser plummet. Level it using the tribrach footscrews, checking the bubble from at least two directions, not just one. Then recheck your centring after levelling, because tightening the footscrews can shift the instrument slightly off point.

Every angle, every distance, every coordinate you record afterward depends entirely on this step. Get it right, and the rest of your survey has a solid foundation.

This is a CORS, a Continuously Operating Reference Station and if you’ve ever achieved RTK accuracy on site without setting up a base station, this is the infrastructure that made it possible.

A CORS is a permanently fixed GNSS reference station. It sits in one location, locked onto known coordinates, and runs continuously by receiving signals from every major satellite constellation and broadcasting real-time differential corrections to rovers in the field via NTRIP. Day and night. Rain or shine. Whether you’re on site or not.

For the surveyor in the field, the impact is immediate. No base station setup. No waiting for a fixed solution before work begins. No extra equipment to carry, power, or babysit on site.
