Following are the types of motorcycle engines:
1. Single Cylinder
A single-cylinder engine is a piston engine with a single cylinder and is often used in motorcycles, scooters, bicycles, go-karts, and more. They can be either 2-stroke or 4-stroke engines
2. Twin Cylinder
A twin-cylinder engine has two cylinders and two pistons in a single engine block. Twin-cylinder engines can improve balance and reduce vibration because the pistons move in opposite directions.
3. Triple Cylinder
A triple-cylinder engine, also known as a straight-three or inline-triple engine, has three cylinders that are arranged in a line on a single crankshaft.
4. Four Cylinder
A four-cylinder engine is an internal combustion engine that has four cylinders, four pistons, and four fuel injectors and is used to power a car. The cylinders are arranged in a row and are powered by a common crankshaft.
5. Five Cylinder
Also known as an inline-five engine, this design has five cylinders mounted in a straight line along the crankshaft. This configuration is compact and can be used in vehicles where space is limited. It's smoother than a four-cylinder engine and shorter than a six-cylinder engine.
6. Six Cylinder
A six-cylinder engine has six cylinders that power the vehicle and is often used in high-performance cars or vehicles that need more power.
7. Eight Cylinder
A flat-eight engine is also called a horizontally opposed eight and has eight cylinders arranged in two banks of four cylinders, one on each side of a central crankshaft. The connecting rods for corresponding pistons from the left and right banks may share a crankshaft journal.
8. Ten Cylinder
A flat-ten engine, also known as a horizontally opposed-ten, has five cylinders on each side of a central crankshaft. Chevrolet built prototype flat-ten engines in the 1960s, but none went into production.
