Merit-based Leadership is all we need to restore sanity in Governance and the lost glory of Education in Nigeria..
Nigeria is sinking into a society where wealth and influence rather than competence and merit , hold power which is demotivating and detrimental to the system with the following consequences among others:
Brain drain and youth disillusionment occurs everyday as talented youths find their way out of the country as there is no regards for education but Money.
Inversion of values is the result of having touts in power as corruption and unethical behaviour by those in power undermines trust and perpetuates the cycle of wrongdoing. Even professors are now used to rig elections.
Paradox of Services: Virtually every institution created for better life is working in a reverse direction : Those to protect you in uniforms are the source of harm today in many instances, those meant to provide good health are the ones taking out organs and causing harm to citizens, even those to teach and imbibe good morals are the ones spoiling students and pupils at school..
Electoral umpires that are supposed to be neutral are the ones now making a mess of election results all because the quality of leaders.
Call to Action
This message serves as a wake-up call, urging Nigerians to demand better leadership that is merit based to restore sanity in the system and the value of education. Every seed will have a harvest time. We all have a role to play in addressing these issues as individuals, communities and institutions.
