WHEN OKPANAM STANDS TOGETHER: A TRIBUTE TO UNITY, LEADERSHIP AND COMMUNITY SPIRIT
On Friday, 21st August 2026, Okpanam once again demonstrated the strength of its communal spirit as the town received friends, political associates, community leaders and well-wishers who gathered to stand with Hon. Simeon Okonkwo and his family during the funeral rites of his beloved wife, Late Ezinne Agnes Uchechukwuka Okonkwo.
Although the occasion was born out of grief, the presence of distinguished personalities and the people of Okpanam transformed the gathering into a powerful expression of solidarity, friendship and community unity.
At the centre of this display of togetherness was Hon. Chief Patrick Ukah, the Akatakpo Enyi of Okpanam, whose leadership continues to encourage a culture of participation, compassion and responsibility within the community. His presence, alongside the people he leads, reflected a leadership that understands that the strength of a community is most visible when its people stand with one another in difficult moments.
The turnout of members of APC Ward 9, Okpanam/Ugbolu, was particularly noteworthy. Under the leadership and guidance of the Akatakpo Enyi of Okpanam, Hon. Chief Patrick Ukah, Ward 9 demonstrated that political organisation can also serve as a platform for community solidarity. Their presence was not merely political; it was a statement that Okpanam cares, Okpanam remembers, and Okpanam stands with its own.
The gathering also brought together notable personalities, including Hon. Frank Esenwah, Member representing Oshimili North Constituency in Delta State House of Assembly Assembly DTHA, , Hon. Chief Austin Obidi, Hon. Innocent Uchibuolu and other friends and associates of Hon. Simeon Okonkwo. Their presence provided another reminder that relationships built over the years can rise above political differences, especially when humanity calls.
For Okpanam, this was a moment worth remembering—not because of politics, but because of people. It showed the beauty of a community where leadership, friendship and compassion can converge for a common purpose.
The Akatakpo Enyi of Okpanam, Hon. Chief Patrick Ukah, through his presence and the mobilisation of the people of Ward 9, continues to exemplify the importance of responsible leadership that brings people closer, strengthens community bonds and promotes the collective interest of Okpanam.
