Our Team
Our team is headed by a Board of Trustees that oversees the affairs of the Management team responsible for the day-to-day activities of the organization. Members of the board include:
•Hon. Olufemi Gbajabiamila: Is our Chairman of the Board. He is currently a Member of Parliament at the Nigerian Federal House of Representatives. Gbajabiamila is an astute Politician and Lawyer. His sincere commitment to the peace and progress of the country and his remarkable concern and commitment to the positive growth of young people formed our judgment to appoint Honorable Gbajabiamila our Board Chairman.


•Mrs. ‘Kemi Okenyodo: Mrs. Okenyodo is a University of Lagos trained Lawyer and currently the Deputy Executive Director at CLEEN Foundation. Okenyodo is a career development practitioner with over ten years experience working on issues that revolve around public safety and Security, Accountability and Justice, Justice sector reforms and Civil society action and alliance. She brings to the Board a robust experience in policy framing, CSO administration and management.

•Otunba ‘Yomi Ajayi-Smith: Otunba Abayomi Ajayi-Smith is the Chairman, CP-Tech Construction Co. Ltd and Topspeed Investment Ltd. He is a successful businessman with a reputation for diligence and excellence. With over 15years in the Civil and Building Engineering terrain, Otunba Ajayi-Smith owns chains of investments including the biggest Gas Station in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State thus making him one of the largest employers of labour in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.

•Mrs. Ibironke Babalola: She is an Intercessor, Social Engineer and Communication strategist based in Abuja Nigeria with over 20 years of strategic communication experience from both the private and international development sectors. She is the Founder of FeelNubia.com.

•Mr. David Lanre-Leke: He is a Corporate Attorney called to the Nigerian Bar since 1990, David Lanre-Leke holds both a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) and a Master of Laws (LL.M) degrees from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife in addition to an MBA degree from Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma and a Diploma in Christian Ministries and Theology (Dip.Th.) from the International Institute of Ministries and Missions (IIMM). He is a full Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered), and also serves on the Boards of other Non-Governmental Organizations, while his professional legal experience spans private practice, financial services and telecoms/ICT. DaVid is married to Oluwayemi, an ex-Banker and an Entrepreneur, with children. David’s extra-curricular interests include youth counseling, reading, writing, table tennis, listening to music and driving.

•‘Kayode Ajayi-Smith, He is the Executive Director, Joint Initiative for Development. Before assuming the role was the Youth Opportunity Coordinator of Young People We Care, Ghana and Programme Assistant with CLEEN Foundation (Abuja Office). He was Project Coordinator with PAMPER Africa, Project Officer NACEVO and Head of Logictics, Faith in Nigeria Project. The organization is supported by volunteers, partners and affiliates.

•Mr. Mike Enahoro: He is a technocrat of over 17 years with vast experience in the telecoms terrain. He is also a strategic project manager per excellence with several exploits in firm like MTN, and Vodafone-Proximus networks, Brussels, Belgium. Enahoro is the Chief Executive Officer of KURO Communications LTD; an Abuja based Telecoms Consultancy and Management Advisory Services. Enahoro brings on board an unquenchable passion for development especially in the area of education. The board plays an important role in the formulation of policies that guides the everyday running of the organization. Some members of the board are also signatories to the finances of the organization; this is in a bid to ensure proper use of funds and the sustainability of the organization. The daily activity of the organization is run by the management team headed by the Executive Director; ‘

The organization is supported by the goodwill of the Board of Trustees, and individuals and donor agencies. Currently, the team is exploring other sources of funding to enable it meet its goal and objectives. Funding is welcomed from corporate organizations and individuals who believe in the causes of the organization. Get Involved
Joint Initiative for Development offers various ways by which you can get involved in our various activities. You can get involved in our activities through the following ways:

•Donations: You or your organization can contribute financially towards the success of our various programmes. You can choose to donate towards any of our programmes and we will acknowledge your support in our monthly newsletter.
•Partnership: You or your organization can choose to partner with us on our projects or your projects which are tailored towards contributing to youth development in the country.
•Volunteer: You can also volunteer your time and expertise towards assisting us to achieve our goals. There are several reasons why people volunteer. You can volunteer if:
1.You are in between jobs and have got some time to spare in a bid to contribute your quota to the issues we work on.
2.You are retired. We can always use some of those expertise deposited in you and transfer them to the younger generation. We can also use your expertise in developing young people in the country.
3.You are on holiday and you have some time to spare.
4.You are on leave at work and you have sometime to spare

The Budding Entrepreneur Challenge:

Deadline: 9 December 2016
Open to: Young Nigerian entrepreneurs / founders between 18-30 years old Ambitious and highly motivated with Innovative and sustainable business ideas

Joint Initiative for Development in collaboration with Heinrich Böll Stiftung, Ventures Platform and Box Office Incubator organized The Budding Entrepreneur to support small business (both start-ups and existing) in overcoming barriers that hinder entrepreneurs from succeeding.

A one day intensive programme was organized to address these challenges and proffer possible solutions to succeeding as a small enterprise in Nigeria. Entrepreneurs were opportunity to exhibit their business, network with both mentors and investors as well as expand their market.

The Budding Entrepreneur Challenge is a national competition which supports young entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs with great ideas. The aim of the challenge is to foster sustainability in entrepreneurship and developing businesses that proffer solution to existing national problems.

Eligibility:
• Young person as the founder (between 18-30 years old)
• Must be a Nigerian
• Ambitious and highly motivated
• Innovative and sustainable business ideas

Benefits:
• 1 year office incubator in Abuja worth N500,000 for the winner
• 3 months office space in Abuja worth N300,000 for the 1st runner up
• Public Relations (PR) Support
• Network opportunities

Application process:
Send minimum of 250 and maximum of 500 words describing your business. Indicating the identified problems, and how your business addresses the identified problem(s). All entries must be sent to [email protected]
