The B1 Moringa National Project (B1MNP) is transforming Namibia’s landscape by planting 𝟭𝟬 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘀 along the country’s longest national highway — the 𝗕𝟭 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗱.

Every Moringa tree planted restores 𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗲, 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 for Namibians, while fighting 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲.

Let’s grow Namibia’s green economy — one Moringa tree at a time 🌱

A map of the ecosystems of Namibia, led and coordinated by Prof. Ben Strohbach at NUST, is now available at https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.17218337 . Many biologists and conservationists will appreciate this tremendous effort that was made possible with support from France through the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) and the Fonds Français pour l'Environnement Mondial (FFEM) as part of the ‘Building biodiversity knowledge for action in Southern Africa: Spatial Biodiversity Assessment, Prioritization and Planning (SBAPP) in South Africa, Namibia, Mozambique and Malawi’ project. Shape files for GIS application may be requested from Ben at his NUST email address. He still requires good photographs typical of some of these ecosystems, which people may contribute by making species observations on iNaturalist, uploading a good habitat or ecosystem photo for the observation, and linking it to the Ecosystems of Namibia project.
