Cowgirl

With this sculpture, Lennox pays homage to the world of cowboys and cowgirls. The shoes are painted with a butterfly wing in acrylic and sunk in resin with a spur. The heal placed on top of the spur contrasts the ruggedness of the sport with the elegance and precision needed to be successful.

In this sculpture, Kalen Lennox immortalises a moment in pop culture, encasing in crystal-clear resin the Gianvito Rossi heels worn by Mariah Carey at her 2015 Hollywood Walk of Fame star ceremony.

Signed by both Mariah Carey and celebrated Italian shoe designer Gianvito Rossi, the heels are transformed from fashion into a contemporary work of art.

Lennox introduces a delicate butterfly, paying tribute to one of Carey’s most personal and enduring symbols.

As Mariah once reflected, “I had to learn how to be a butterfly.”

A symbol of freedom, transformation and reinvention, the butterfly captures the spirit of an artist who has continually evolved while remaining unmistakably herself.

In this sculpture, Lennox transforms one of childhood’s most familiar objects, the Barbie shoe, into a playful reflection on fashion, memory and pop culture.

The shoes are painted with Louboutin-inspired red soles, referencing Christian Louboutin’s first experiments with the now-iconic red sole, famously created using red nail polish.

Among the collection, one shoe is deliberately missing — a nostalgic nod to the almost universal childhood memory of losing a Barbie shoe. At the same time, its absence speaks to Barbie’s constantly evolving identity: changing wardrobes, changing ideals and changing styles as she continues to mirror the culture around her.
