Let’s talk craftsmanship!!!

Let’s be honest! Apartments in Nairobi are nothing to write home about.
From bad layouts to horrible finishing.
The standards have dropped for affordable housing to have amazing finishing and property developers who think and care about the end user. Every building is a copy paste! Everyone fits into the same box! Same aesthetic!

Then I came across this property developer! Ow my!!! Was I not just gobsmacked! The craftsmanship and attention to detail on these apartments are something else. Each stone hand carved.
I actually stood and watched the mason hand carving each stone that would clad the exterior of the building. This green stone is locally available in Kenya.

Careful precision and uncompromising attention to detail.
Craftsmanship present in every layer.

Finishes!!!

When is the right time to source for these? Most people tend to wait till the very end to start thinking of finishes for the space.
Finishes are the details that people over look. A tap is just a tap!
No! The look, the aesthetic of the space is brought together by the finishes that you pick.
When we design we think of everything. Nothing is left to the last minute or is an afterthought thought.

Everything must be carefully thought of and must fit in the grand scheme of things.
Not chance just preparation.

May is here and we are still showing up! Still taking it a step at a time and that’s all that matters.
we are still trying to figure out this social media thing. Always a lot going on with us. We sometimes get overwhelmed but it’s always a good reminder progress not perfection.

Thank you this little community we are building. Getting to connect with new followers and designers with drool worth work. We love to see and connect with like minded individuals who are pushing the boundaries and are looking good while doing it!

Happy Monday!

Property developers get a bad name out here these days.
They look for ways to cut costs and the spaces are too small.
Well, we found an amazing property developer who is changing the game! The attention to detail, the space planning, the overall design of the space😍😍😍

This is what good design is all about! It’s about improving the quality of living.
It’s about thinking of the person(s) who will inhabit the space. What do you want them to feel?
A space should improve the quality of your life. That’s what we call human centered design.
Even small spaces should be well designed.

Every space matters.
Every detail should be considered.

This is not a Kenzi design studio project.
It was worth posting though.
