KPLC token metres are a new type of energy meter being offered to every household and business nationwide by Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC), the state-owned utility facility that distributes, transmits, and retails electricity in the country.

1. Problem question: How do I buy KPLC tokens via M-Pesa in 2025?
Solution: On your Safaricom line, go to M-Pesa and select Lipa na M-Pesa, then use KPLC paybill number 888880 to buy your tokens. Remember to use your meter number as the account name for a successful transaction.

2. Problem question: How do I know my KPLC token meter number?
Solution: The process depends on your smart meter type. Use the codes #100 # for Conlog meters, 100 followed by Enter for Actaris meters, 804 #, then press the blue key for Hexing meters and 65 for Shenzhen meters.

3. Problem question: How do I load tokens on my smart KPLC meter?
Solution: For all KPLC token meters, key in the token number received via SMS, then press Enter or the # key.

4. Problem question: How do I retrieve the last purchased token?
Solution: Press 200>Enter for Actaris meter, #215 #>Enter for Conlog meter, 818 #>Enter for Hexing meter, and 76>Enter for Shenzen meter.

5. Problem question: How do I stop irritating beep sounds from a KPLC prepaid meter?
Solution: To silence the beeping, please press 00, then Enter or # to reset the meter to disconnect at 0 units. Alternatively, press 1037, then enter three times for a Shenzhen meter, 812 followed by hash for hexing, long press # for Conlog and the Enter key for Actaris.
