So what to know about your piece of land as you go for the weekend.

1. Identify if your land beacons are in place.
2. Confirm the width of the access roads bordering your piece of land
3. Get a survey map and get a physical planner or a surveyor to help you interpret it.
4. In case of any swamps or river/ stream get good advise on the riperian reserve

Things to know when you want to buy land.

1. Acquire the survey map from the survey office in the lands department
2. Let the owner/ proprietor of the plot produce a copy of the ownership documents of the plot
3. Get an official “Land Search” from the lands office
4. Confirm the actual access roads leading to the land
5. Confirm the value of the land with a valuer or get the valuation roll to weigh against the seller
