Mapping Jamaica’s future, one class at a time 🇯🇲

We recently kicked off our National Geographic MapMaker Jamaica Pilot Programme at Montego Bay High School for Girls, where students were introduced to the exciting world of digital mapping and geospatial thinking.

Through National Geographic MapMaker, students can explore countries, capitals and communities, investigate real-world issues, and discover how geography and technology can come together to help us better understand our world. 🌍

The curtains are slowly coming down on an incredible two days at the Spatial ArcGIS User Conference 2026. The conference has been a space for learning, collaboration and inspiration.

Today, we also celebrated the official launch of the National Geographic MapMaker Jamaica Pilot Programme, an exciting step toward introducing GIS and geospatial learning to schools across Jamaica. By bringing these tools into the classroom, students can begin to better understand their communities, explore the world around them and develop skills that can support future opportunities in science, technology, geography and beyond.

As we head into the final moments of the conference, we’re reflecting on the ideas shared, the connections made and the possibilities ahead.
