Vanity

Vanity is a work that explores the superficiality and self-admiration
typical of the contemporary era, where appearance and external
image have become dominant values. The title itself recalls the
concept of vanitas, symbolizing the transience of beauty, wealth,
and power, but in a modern key.

The work represents the reflection of a figure gazing into a mirror, a
gesture that, in the current context, goes beyond intimacy,
becoming a public and ongoing act, fueled by the image-driven
culture and social media. The figure, while reflecting on itself, is
trapped in a cycle of self-satisfaction, embodying the vanity of
appearance. Meanwhile, the contrast between the fragility of the
body and the fleeting desire for perfection resonates as a critique of
contemporary society.
