We get asked all the time: how do you actually choose materials?

The honest answer — it’s never just aesthetics, and it’s never just price.

Before we specify anything, we ask 5 questions:

01 · Will it last as long as the building?
02 · Who maintains it in year 10?
03 · How does it change in different light?
04 · What does it feel like to touch?
05 · What is its true cost over time?

These questions come from being on site, in real conditions — not from a catalogue.

📌 Save this for your next project brief.
💬 Which of these 5 do you think gets ignored most? Tell us below.

Every member of this family had a different idea of what home should feel like. Our job wasn’t to find a compromise — it was to give each of them exactly what they imagined, under one roof.

Swipe to see how we designed a master suite, a guest wing, a kids’ room, a rooftop terrace, and a private lounge — all within the same house, all completely distinct. 🏠

̇nteriors

The terrace brief: make it feel like you never need to leave. Teak underfoot, the city at eye level, a living wall softening the skyline. Every element was placed for evening light — when the checkerboard stone glows gold and the pergola lights come on. This is the room without a roof.

The parents room brief was a single word: peace. Limewash walls that shift through the day, walnut panelling that grounds the room at shoulder height, and linen that layers without effort. A room that asks you to slow down from the moment you walk through the door.

One material. Every surface. The Calacatta marble in the master washroom runs uninterrupted — floor to ceiling, counter to wall, down into the integrated sink. The veining matches across every panel. When you specify this way, the room doesn’t need decoration. The stone is the decoration.

The guest brief: make it feel like a hotel, but better than any hotel you’ve stayed in. The 3D fluted wall in microcement is never the same twice — the morning light hits it differently than the evening. Full-height mirrored wardrobes reflect the texture back across the room. This is a room that has something to say.

A child’s bathroom doesn’t need to be simple. Deep navy handmade zellige, a microcement lower wall, and a mirror shaped like nothing in a catalogue. This room says: considered design has no minimum age requirement.

One house. Five people. Five completely different ideas of what home should feel like.

The parents suite: warm and still — limewash plaster, walnut, cane and linen.
The terrace: teak, stone, and Delhi at dusk.
The kids room: dramatic and dark, with a 3D relief wall that is never the same twice.

We don’t always work in easy sites. Sometimes the brief puts you right next to live 220kV transmission lines, on unpaved ground, in the middle of a working substation. This is that project.

Swipe to see how it came together — from the first steel column to the day we handed over the keys.

Earlier stages on site. Steel columns freshly erected, no walls, no roof, just the grid of a future building pushed up against a substation.

This is where every project starts — with belief that the empty site in front of you will become something useful and considered.

Pre-engineered steel gives you something you can’t get with RCC — speed and span. The full-width rafters went up in a fraction of the time a concrete frame would have taken.

On a constrained site like this, time on site = risk. Every day we shaved off the construction schedule mattered.

Here’s the challenge nobody talks about in the portfolio photos: the entire structure had to be built without a tower crane. Live 220kV overhead lines ruled out any tall machinery within the site boundary.

Every steel rafter was maneuvered by hand and small machines — by the team you can see in these frames. That’s the part that doesn’t show up in the finished building, but it’s the part we’re most proud of.

Facade decisions on an industrial building are often treated as afterthoughts. Not here. The two-tone corrugated cladding — warm white upper volume, dark charcoal base — was a conscious choice to create visual weight and ground the structure. It also ages gracefully in a dusty, industrial environment. Form following context.

The interior brief was clear: maximum clear span, minimum visual clutter. The exposed steel deck ceiling keeps the height and makes the

Open plan living was supposed to bring families together. Here’s why it’s often does the opposite—

The open plan kitchen-living room became the default because of its aesthetic appeal and it sells apartments. But a home is not an apartment showroom.

Noise travels. Cooking smells linger. The person who wants quiet and the person who wants television cannot co-exist. Privacy differs completely.

In our project The House of Generations, we used a pocket sliding door to have that visual separation without walls which solves all our problems. Rooms that feel unified through light and materiality, without sacrificing the ability to close a door.

If you’re designing a family home, save this. The layout decision you make now will define how your family lives for years to come.

Three generations. One home. A brief that asked for coexistence without compromise.

The House of Generations is a 3,600 sq ft residence in Naraina, New Delhi — designed to hold a family whose members bring distinct habits, aesthetics, and expectations. The design's answer was not a single, imposed style. It was a unifying framework: calm, balanced, deeply comfortable — allowing individuality to coexist within a shared sense of belonging.

A sculptural sandstone wall, carved in concentric circular patterns, anchors the family living space with quiet drama. Pocketed sliding doors dissolve the boundary between living and kitchen, allowing the home to expand and contract with ease. The master bedroom — a cocoon of warm timber, textured walls, and glass bricks that admit diffused daylight — gives way to an ensuite wrapped in Calcutta Ore marble.

Every room holds a different story. The house holds all of them.

Small spaces carry the biggest arguments.

570 square feet. A government office. The Chamber challenged us to distil everything we believe about design into a room that had to be serious, but not cold. Authoritative, but not distant. Purposeful, but still human.

We have always believed that the most meaningful design doesn't announce itself. It earns trust slowly — through the warmth of a material, the placement of light, the presence of a plant beside a window. It supports, rather than performs.

The Chamber is that belief, at its most compressed.
