Crafting spaces with character & timeless appeal

Deshmukh Residence

The foyer and living room are treated as a continuous spatial sequence rather than two independent zones.

The entry is kept compact and controlled. Storage is integrated within the walls, allowing the space to remain clear and functional. The backlit panel introduces identity without becoming an applied feature, setting a measured tone right at arrival.

This extends into the living area, where the design shifts from compression to openness. The palette remains consistent, while elements like panelling, seating and wall articulation are used to anchor the space without introducing visual noise.

There is a deliberate avoidance of focal points. Instead, emphasis is placed on proportion, alignment and material continuity, allowing both spaces to read as part of the same system.

The transition between the two is not defined by change, but by consistency, where one space prepares you for the next.

Deshmukh Residence

This project was developed with a focus on consistency rather than contrast.

The palette is kept controlled, materials are repeated, and details are aligned so the space reads as a single system instead of isolated interventions. There are no deliberate focal points, the emphasis is on proportion, surface treatment, and how elements sit in relation to each other.

Storage, panelling, and furniture are all designed to integrate into this language, keeping the visual field uninterrupted and balanced.

The intent was to create a space that feels resolved in its entirety, not dependent on standout moments.

Project details to follow.

Privacy is often interpreted as building higher walls. We chose to design a better threshold instead.

The defining feature of this home is the terracotta screen that wraps the upper level, acting as an environmental layer that filters sunlight, improves airflow, softens street views and changes with the light throughout the day.

Inside, open, interconnected spaces, landscaped pockets and carefully framed openings create a seamless relationship between architecture and nature. A palette of exposed brick, textured stone, warm timber and planting adds depth while responding naturally to the climate.

Rather than creating a façade that simply stands out, the design performs, responding to light, climate and everyday living with a timeless architectural character.

The kitchen was conceived as an extension of the home’s daily rhythm rather than a standalone workspace.

A restrained material palette, uninterrupted storage and carefully balanced proportions allow the space to remain visually light while supporting everyday use. The adjoining dining area continues the same language, making cooking, gathering and conversation feel like part of one connected experience.

A kitchen is rarely defined by one standout feature.

It is shaped by a series of deliberate decisions, how materials meet, how storage disappears into the architecture,
how every surface supports the rituals of everyday living.

Here, warm timber softens the composition, light-toned cabinetry keeps the volume open, and restrained detailing allows the space
to feel timeless rather than trend-driven. The result is a kitchen designed not just for efficiency, but for the way a home is experienced every day.

Rather than filling the room, we focused on giving it clarity.

Open shelving introduces depth without feeling heavy, the fluted backdrop softens the media wall, and the window seat extends the room into a place to pause. Every material and proportion was chosen to create a space that feels composed, functional and easy to inhabit, whether it’s a quiet morning, an evening with friends, or simply time spent doing nothing.

The Kakade Residence living room was designed around the specific way this family lives together. The brief was not to impose a new aesthetic onto the space but to understand how it is used every day, how the family gathers, relaxes, and moves through it, and where the existing layout was working against them rather than for them.

The design response addresses the living room at every scale, from spatial organisation and circulation to material choices and the resolution of individual details. The result is a space that feels considered at every level, where the quality of the design is evident whether you’re experiencing the room as a whole or noticing a single corner. This post introduces the finished living room before the feed moves into a detailed documentation of the design decisions behind it.

Demolition is the phase where design intent becomes physical reality.

The decisions made at the drawing board, which walls to remove, which spaces to open up, which boundaries to dissolve,
are now being executed on site.

This post documents that process through construction site photography, showing the Kakade Residence mid-transformation.

Each removal visible here was a direct response to something identified during the analysis of the existing plan.
A wall coming down was not a random construction decision, it was a deliberate spatial move made to improve flow, introduce light,
or create a more direct relationship between two areas of the home.

The site photographs show how design thinking translates into action, and how the logic developed on paper begins to take shape in the actual structure of the building.

Transformation is often perceived as the final visual outcome. For us, it begins much earlier, with understanding what already exists.

Every space carries its own set of constraints, habits, and possibilities. The design process lies in reading these conditions carefully, identifying opportunities for change, and making deliberate interventions that improve the way a space is experienced.

The Kakade Residence was approached as an exercise in transformation through refinement, where spatial clarity, functionality, and atmosphere emerged not from excess, but from thoughtful decisions made at every stage of the process.

A look at how an existing space evolved into its final expression.
