Good equipment does not automatically create good infrastructure.
During a recent visit to a State Government University in Haryana for a security-system bid, I got an opportunity to observe their existing IT and networking infrastructure across different buildings.
The organisation had invested in reputed brands and quality equipment. However, I noticed that the quality of installation and infrastructure management was not at the same level.
Some common issues included:
πΉ Poor rack organisation and messy cabling
πΉ No proper patch panels, cable managers or cable identification
πΉ Inadequate UPS/PDU arrangements
πΉ Loose or improperly mounted network switches
πΉ Improperly installed I/O boxes, plates and conduits
πΉ Lack of proper testing, documentation and structured handover
These may look like small issues, but collectively they can lead to network instability, connectivity problems, increased maintenance and, most importantly, loss of employee productivity.
It made me think:
Are we spending enough on making our technology investments actually work?
A reliable infrastructure requires more than purchasing good equipment.
Right Design β Right BOQ β Professional Installation β Quality Supervision β Testing β Documentation β Handover
Where an organisation does not have sufficient in-house technical expertise, an independent infrastructure coordinator or auditor, separate from the ex*****on vendor, can play a critical role in ensuring quality and accountability.
π‘ Spend money to save money.
A small investment in professional design review, site supervision and quality auditing can prevent years of unnecessary downtime, maintenance expenses and productivity losses.
At IKVORA, we have built the capability to review designs and BOQs, monitor implementation, inspect workmanship and audit the quality of technology infrastructure.
We are ready to support educational institutions, government organisations, corporates and large facilities that want their technology investments to deliver the reliability, performance and longevity they deserve.
Don't just invest in equipment. Invest in making the entire infrastructure work properly.
