Getting the Bengali right is no joke. 😄

Behind every Bengali word spoken in 1876 lies hours of listening, repeating, correcting, and trying again.

This little glimpse into our diction sessions is a tribute to the effort that goes into making every character and every moment feel authentic.

A special thank you to Arko Chakravorty and Saniya Haque for their patience, guidance, and endless support in helping our cast find the rhythm, melody, and flavour of the language. ❤️

Theatre is built on these unseen moments — the rehearsals, the mistakes, the laughter, and the learning.

Here’s a peek behind the curtain.

What happens when a play becomes a revolution?

When artists refuse to stay silent.
When stories become weapons.
When a stage becomes more dangerous than a battlefield.

1876 is not just a play about the past. It is about the courage to speak, create, and dream in times that demand silence.

Through music, drama, humour, and history, 1876 tells the story of a group of theatre artists whose fight extends far beyond the stage.

Join us for an unforgettable evening of storytelling, where every song carries a memory and every scene asks a question that still echoes today.

Join us for a story of artists, revolutionaries, dreamers, and those who dared to speak when silence was safer.

✍️ The Words Behind 1876 ✍️

Every play begins with a blank page.
And over the years, Karan and Amatya have quietly filled many of those pages — together.

Their partnership isn’t loud.
It isn’t flashy.
It’s built on years of trust, debate, disagreement, rewriting, and relentless belief in storytelling.

From long discussions to late-night drafts, from tearing scenes apart to rebuilding them stronger — their collaboration has shaped the soul of 1876.

They don’t just write characters.
They listen to them.
They argue for them.
They protect them.

What makes their writing special isn’t just brilliance — it’s sincerity. A shared hunger to tell stories that matter, and the humility to keep learning with every draft.

1876 stands today because two storytellers chose to keep showing up for the page — together.

With gratitude,
Team 1876
