Designing for older adults isn’t about making a home look clinical, it’s about making it feel effortless to live in.

Thoughtful details like wider walkways, anti-slip flooring, ample lighting, easy-to-reach storage, and barrier-free bathrooms can make everyday life safer, more comfortable, and far more independent.

Good design isn’t just about how a space looks.
It’s about how well it cares for the people living in it.

I can walk into a house and accidentally start analysing it within seconds 😭

Where is the natural light coming from?
Does the furniture layout actually work?
Is there enough storage?
Why is that chair facing absolutely nothing?

The funny thing is, the details that make a home feel good are rarely the flashy ones.

It’s usually the natural light, thoughtful layouts, good storage, and a sense of balance that make a space feel calm and effortless.

Once you start noticing these things, you can’t really unsee them.

A few design opinions that might get me into trouble 👀

I’ll always choose comfort over a chair that looks good but nobody wants to sit on.

I’ll always choose warm lighting over spaces that feel like a hospital waiting room.

And I genuinely think not every empty corner needs a vase, sculpture, or styling moment.

Good design isn’t about filling every inch of a home.
It’s about knowing what deserves attention and what can be left alone.

Trends come and go, but spaces that feel comfortable, functional, and personal tend to age a lot better.

What’s an interior trend you could never have in your own home? 😭
