Monsoon alert for Civil Engineers
Every year i see many civil engineers make the same mistake.
If you are currently employed and planning to switch jobs avoid resigning during July–August unless you already have a confirmed offer and joining date.
Here why ?
July to August is the peak monsoon season in many parts of India.
During this period
1. Many new construction projects are postponed or delayed.
2. Site ex*****on slows down due to heavy rainfall.
3. Client billing dropped by 50% impacting Company cash flow.
4. Most of the Companies hold the new hiring.
5. Some organizations even reduce the staff or reduce manpower to control costs.
This doesn't mean there are no jobs but opportunities become comparatively fewer than during the post monsoon period.
My suggestion based on industry experience
✔ Continue in your current job if possible.
✔ Keep attending interviews and building your network.
✔ Upgrade your technical skills (Billing, Planning, QS, BBS, AutoCAD, Excel, Primavera, Contracts, etc.)
✔ Switch only after receiving a confirmed offer with a clear joining timeline.
This is based on my experience in the construction industry. Every company is different, but planning your job change at the right time can help you avoid unnecessary problems.
Have you noticed the same hiring trend during the monsoon season ???
