INBAR's Bamboo Policy Consulative Webinar -
Africa / China / India (24-10-2024 at 7:30 PM IST)

1. China’s government has long supported the bamboo sector with dedicated policies, funding, and research institutions. The integration of bamboo into national development plans has significantly contributed to its success.

2. In India government efforts like the National Bamboo Mission are underway, but they have not yet achieved the scale and impact seen in China. A comparison of policy frameworks helps India understand the necessary reforms and strategies to effectively promote bamboo cultivation and industry.

Comparing development in and China offers valuable insights for India to better leverage its bamboo resources for economic growth, environmental sustainability, and innovation. By studying China's successful bamboo policies, technological advancements, and industry organization, India can enhance its own bamboo sector, boost rural livelihoods, promote sustainable practices, and position itself as a global player in bamboo products.

Removal Day 2024 :

Bamboo can be effectively used for carbon removal, leveraging its unique characteristics. Here’s a focused overview of how bamboo can serve this purpose:

1. Rapid Growth: Bamboo can sequester carbon at an impressive rate due to its fast growth, often reaching maturity in three to five years.

2. Carbon Sequestration: Bamboo absorbs significant amounts of CO2 through photosynthesis. A single bamboo plant can absorb up to 12 tons of CO2 over its lifespan.

3. Sustainable Harvesting: Bamboo can be harvested regularly without killing the plant, allowing it to continue growing and sequestering carbon. This makes it a renewable resource.

4. Long-Term Storage: Products made from bamboo, such as furniture and building materials, can lock in carbon for decades, extending the carbon storage beyond the plant's life.

5. Soil Improvement: Bamboo’s extensive root system can enhance soil health, increasing organic carbon storage in the soil.

6. Ecosystem Benefits: Bamboo forests can support biodiversity and improve local ecosystems, which can further contribute to carbon capture through enhanced plant growth.

Using bamboo as a primary tool for carbon removal can contribute significantly to climate change mitigation efforts while promoting sustainable land use.

World Day 2024

15th Year's Embracing Bamboo: A Path to Sustainable and Practical Solutions

Bamboo is more than just a plant—it's a powerful tool for our community. It grows quickly, needs minimal resources, and can be used for building, crafts, and even as a source of food. By incorporating bamboo into our daily lives, we can create stronger, more sustainable practices that benefit both our environment and our local economy.

Let’s harness the potential of bamboo to build a better future. Start small: use bamboo products, promote its benefits, and share knowledge with your neighbors. Together, we can make a significant impact.

World 's Day 2024

Value
( 2 C vs 2 A : Chain vs Addition, Change vs Act )

Entrepreneurs are essential for various reasons:

1. *Job creation*: Entrepreneurs create new job opportunities, reducing unemployment and stimulating economic growth.

2. *Innovation*: Entrepreneurs introduce new products, services, and processes, driving innovation and progress.

3. *Economic growth*: Entrepreneurs contribute to economic growth by starting new businesses, investing in research and development, and expanding markets.

4. *Problem-solving*: Entrepreneurs identify problems and create solutions, making a positive impact on society.

5. *Role models*: Successful entrepreneurs inspire and mentor others, fostering a culture of entrepreneurship.

6. *Competition*: Entrepreneurs promote competition, leading to better products, services, and prices.

7. *Wealth creation*: Entrepreneurs create wealth, not only for themselves but also for their employees, investors, and communities.

8. *Social impact*: Entrepreneurs can address social and environmental issues, creating positive change.

9. *Diversity*: Entrepreneurs bring diverse perspectives, experiences, and ideas, enriching industries and communities.

10. *Growth and adaptability*: Entrepreneurs drive growth and adaptability, helping economies stay resilient and responsive to change.

Without entrepreneurs, economies would stagnate, and innovation would slow. Entrepreneurs are the catalysts for progress, driving growth, and improving lives.

World Day 2024

is a promising source of biomass for renewable energy because it has many desirable fuel characteristics, including:

Fast growth: Bamboo can grow in low water and nutritional soils, and is more tolerant to heat, drought, and disease than other plants.

High lignocellulose content: Bamboo is well-suited for bioethanol production, which involves pretreatment, hydrolysis, and fermentation.

High heat value: Bamboo has a higher heat value than most agricultural residues.

Low ash content and alkali index: Bamboo has a relatively low moisture content (8–23%) compared to other plants.

High biomass productivity: Bamboo can produce a very high biomass yield per acre of land.

Bamboo can also be converted into other biofuels, including bio-oil, hydrogen, and methane. Bamboo can also be hydrothermally carbonized and pyrolyzed to generate biochar, which has high added value.

Bamboo is also a nonfood crop that requires less fertilizer than traditional biofuel crops and can have less detrimental impact on the land. Biofuels are a cleaner and more sustainable alternative to traditional fossil fuels, which are not renewable sources of energy and will eventually run out. .........................................................Keys Point........................................................

Economy or Peoples’ Economy’, where eco-friendly and sustainable raw material will satisfy needs of citizen. In 2017, Government of India’s decision to transfer bamboo into grass category is official start of bamboo sector in India. Now, we are geared up to use Bamboo to make India a Green Economy.

Allow on Bamboo plantation of RoFR Act 2006 land holders’ farmer (Patta Land) or Unregistered Tribal inhabited Land under scheme of NBM or others. .......................................................................................................................................
