The first dairy enterprise in Papua New Guinea is an innovative step towards creating dairy self-sufficiency in the region. The initiative will spawn a variety of benefits for locals, children in particular, including increased wellness, lower product prices as well as increased knowledge on the dairy market sphere, and create operational efficiency. The project will potentially have long term contributions to the local society, and create a previously non-existent dairy industry.

In September 2016, a group of 12 young men and women from Enga Province, Papua New Guinea, arrived in Israel to begin a groundbreaking three-month agricultural training program .

The Integrated Agriculture Training & Capacity Building program aims to enhance sustainable agricultural and rural development, thereby improving the livelihoods of farmers in developing countries.

By coming to Israel, the trainees were granted a unique opportunity to learn both theoretical and practical lessons from Israeli farmers and agricultural specialists who have cultivated thriving farms in often harsh rural environments and diverse agro-economic conditions.

Upon their return to Enga Province and the nucleus farm currently being established by Enga AIC in the Sirunki region, the trainees will be able to not only manage the farm, but pass on their new knowledge and skills to hundreds of local growers in line with the "Training of Trainers " (TOT) concept.

LR’s support of the Mandalia Dairy Integration Farm and the rest of the far-reaching SITEA project aims to take practical steps towards improving food self-sufficiency in Chad. The Mandalia Farm is located just south of N’Djamena, the country’s capital and largest urban center. The farm is intended to provide healthy, high quality produce at affordable prices in local markets, reducing reliance on expensive imports and enhancing public wellbeing.
