Over the past two days, the Port of Cork Company hosted six Health & Safety workshops in the Ringaskiddy Community Centre, delivered by James Gorry, Health & Safety Impact Keynote Speaker and Workplace Safety & Resilience Advocate.

James shared his experience and insights with our teams, reinforcing a core message that underpins all Port of Cork operations: that every employee goes home safe every day, as healthy and well as when they arrived.

We thank James for his impactful sessions and all employees who participated across the six workshops.

The Port of Cork Apprenticeship Programme combines hands-on workplace experience with structured off-the-job training through SOLAS and approved training providers.

Typically taking four years to complete, the programme is designed to give apprentices the skills, knowledge and experience needed to become qualified craftspeople, while working towards a nationally recognised craft qualification.

School leavers, mature applicants, career changers and those looking for a practical, hands-on route into employment are all encouraged to apply.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐖𝐞 𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐋𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐅𝐨𝐫:
- Enthusiastic and motivated individuals with a willingness to learn and develop new skills
- Good problem-solving abilities and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A genuine interest in your chosen apprenticeship trade
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A practical, responsible and safety-conscious approach to work
- An interest in working in a unique port environment, including at heights, on floating craft and across a wide range of operational locations
- Eligibility to meet the entry requirements of the relevant SOLAS apprenticeship programme

**RINGASKIDDY MARTELLO TOWER WALKWAY HAS RE-OPENED**

⚠️ IMPORTANT – ACCESS HAS CHANGED⚠️

The old access point from the village side has been removed.

The new entrance is further along Loughbeg Road, accessed from the footpath, where there is now a pedestrian gate. Please see the photos for the new entrance location attached.

This means that for people coming from the village side, the entrance is approximately 230 metres further along the road, adding almost half a kilometre to the round trip.

It is welcome that the improved accessibility provided by the new, gentler gradient is in place but it is disappointing that the longstanding original access has been lost.

Pedestrian connectivity is extremely important for Ringaskiddy, particularly when it comes to connecting the village with long-established local amenities and places of historical importance.

REMINDER: Public Consultation will take place between 3pm and 8pm today, Wednesday 12th, in Ringaskiddy Community Centre - in relation to Depuy Synthes proposal to apply for Planning Permission for a third Wind Turbine at their site in Loughbeg, Ringaskiddy. It is expected that the proposed Wind Turbine would be located approx. 100m back from the beach.

DePuy Synthes are in the process of preparing a Planning Application for a third Wind Turbine on their site at Loughbeg in Ringaskiddy - there will be a public consultation hosted by DePuy in Ringaskiddy Community Centre next Wednesday 12th August from 3pm-8pm.

The proposed Wind Turbine would be located just behind the beach as roughly shown in the second image.

The public consultation is open to anyone to attend during the times indicated above.
