A hands-on afternoon of stone, history and craftsmanship. 🪨

A big thank you to Limerick Civic Trust for inviting INStone to be part of the Limerick History Festival and for giving people the opportunity to get hands-on with Irish natural stone.

It was wonderful to share the craft behind Ireland’s historic buildings and introduce participants to traditional stone carving from picking up the tools to making their first marks in stone.

Thank you to everyone who came along, got involved and shared their enthusiasm for Irish stone craftsmanship.

And a special thank you to Limerick City and County Council for helping make the workshop possible.

A wonderful celebration of stone, sculpture and community. 🪨

It was a pleasure for INStone to be part of Doolin Cave’s 20th Anniversary & Sculpture Park Vision Launch on 19 September.

We were delighted to share traditional stone carving and be part of an afternoon celebrating art, craft, landscape and the creative community of North Clare.

A big thank you to the team at Doolin Cave for having us and for including INStone in this special occasion.

We look forward to seeing the Sculpture Park vision develop and celebrating the continued connection between stone, landscape, art and community.

We’re delighted to see recognized through €1.1 million Impact Fund 2025.

Through “Carving the Future in Stone,” Limerick Civic Trust, in partnership with INStone, will help expand opportunities to learn traditional stone masonry, conservation and craftsmanship across Limerick and Clare.

We’re proud to be part of a programme that helps keep traditional skills alive while creating new opportunities for the next generation.

Keeping the craft alive. 🪨

A big thank you to Ennis Friary and the OPW - Office of Public Works for inviting INStone to join them on Friday, 21 August, for Stone Stories: Carving Limestone in Medieval Clare.

It was a wonderful opportunity to share our knowledge of traditional stone carving, explore the relationship between limestone, place and craftsmanship, and demonstrate the techniques that have shaped Ireland's built heritage for generations.

Preserving built heritage isn't only about protecting historic buildings, it's also about keeping the skills, knowledge and craftsmanship behind them alive.

Valentia Slate 🪨

More than 500 million years of geological history lies within Valentia Slate.

Renowned for its durability, natural beauty and connection to Valentia Island, this remarkable Irish stone has inspired some of INStone's sculptural work, including The Valentia Hare and The Puffin of Valentia.

The contrast between the slate's natural cleavage and the polished surfaces of the sculptures allows the ancient character of the material to remain part of the artwork.
