Bettystown Tidy Towns Local group set up to help keep Bettystown clean. We meet every Saturday 9-11am in Bettystown Square. All welcome. Equipment provided.

Bettystown Tidy Towns (BTT) is a group of local volunteers who want to keep the village looking fantastic. Established in 2017, we aim to enhance the village for the benefit of the community and visitors to the village. We make an effort to maintain the village and its approach roads by conducting litter picks, painting walls, adding colour by installing flower beds and planting flowers and organi

sing events for the community. Bettystown has a wealth of local resources, miles of beach and dunes, golf and pitch & putt courses, tennis club, restaurants, bars, cafes, beauticians and shops. To retain these businesses and attract more we need to maintain the village and give local residents a sense of pride in their village. As a seaside resort in a very historical area we attract a significant number of visitors to our village and the Tidy Towns group want to enhance the look of the village for these visitors and local residents.

Come along to our World Oceans Day event on Saturday June 13th from 1pm to 3pm in East Meath Civic Centre, Bettystown.

This week is World Oceans week and today some employees from Microsoft Ireland used their employee volunteer day to help clean our coastline.

The majority of the rubbish they collected was discarded bags of dog waste.

If you are walking the beach, why not take a picker and bag from one of the 2 Minute Beach Clean Boards on the beach. Bagged rubbish can be placed in one of the large bins on the beach.

Meath Local Sports Partnership in collaboration with Meath County Council are delighted to offer two Beach Wheelchairs for use at Bettystown Beach. The Beach Wheelchairs aim to assist people with a physical disability and those with reduced mobility in accessing the beach.

Last week Meath County Council and local Councillors raised Blue and Green Flags on Bettystown beach. This week, Bettystown Tidy Towns volunteers were left to clean the beach after people visiting the beach over the weekend left an enormous amount of rubbish behind them.

Clothing, towels, shoes, food wrappers and disposable BBQs.

The worst and most serious is the amount of broken glass. This is a serious hazard to anyone on the beach.

There are plenty of bins on the beach, please dispose of your rubbish in the bins provided or take it home with you.

The photo shows litter collected by volunteers on Monday morning within one hundred metres of the steps to the library.

Laytown/ Bettystown DZ Family Fun Day is taking place on Sunday 24th May in Scoil Oilibhéir Naofa Bettystown (A92H762) from 11am-3pm.

The event will be packed with family fun activities all with a focus on providing valuable tips and information on ways in which we can be more sustainable in our everyday lives.

On the day there will be the Toy Library, Clothing Swap, Face Painting, Energy Retrofit Van, information stalls including enhancing biodiversity in the garden, and much more. Meath County Council
