In 2026, the Hong Kong Institute of Architects marks its 70th anniversary with a lecture series on the development of Hong Kong. The series examines key themes in the city’s urban growth to deepen understanding of Hong Kong’s urban evolution.

The finale features our former Chairman, Mr. Edward S.T. Ho, FHKIA, SBS, OBE, JP (HKIA Gold Medalist 2025), and his captivating talk as he looks back on the 50-year history of private residential building development in Hong Kong. There is also a rare, forward-looking dialogue on Hong Kong’s future between two generations of HKIA Presidents and Legislative Council Members, with Ms. Julia Lau and HKIA Vice-President Mr. Allen P**n.

Mr. Ho has shared valuable insights on landmark projects that helped meet post-war housing demands and foster the formation of a middle class, including Mei Foo Sun Chuen, Tai Koo Shing, Chi Fu Fa Yuen, Discovery Bay, and more.

HKUST officially marked the launch of its new medical school project with a groundbreaking ceremony for the Medical Education and Research Complex on 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹 𝟮𝟴, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲. This initiative will establish 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗞𝗼𝗻𝗴’𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗱 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹. The ceremony was officiated by 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗼𝗻. 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻 𝗞.𝗖. 𝗟𝗲𝗲, Chief Executive of the HKSAR and HKUST Chancellor, together with 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗿 𝗡𝗮𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗜𝗽, President of HKUST, and other government and university leaders. The event signalled the start of construction for the school’s interim facilities at the Clear Water Bay campus.

Upon completion, the complex—an eight-storey, state-of-the-art facility—will provide advanced spaces and resources to support medical education and research. Construction is scheduled to be completed in mid-2028, with the expectation that the first cohort of students will be admitted at that time. We are honoured to participate in this exciting project and we are delighted to collaborate again with Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) and the rest of the consultants team!

The groundbreaking ceremony for the Goodman HKG09 Data Centre in Kwai Chung marks an important milestone for the project.

It marks 𝗪𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝘂𝗻𝗴’𝘀 𝗙𝗶𝗳𝘁𝗵 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝘀𝗶𝗮 𝗟𝘁𝗱. The development has now entered the foundation and superstructure works stage, carried out by Leighton Contractor (Asia) Ltd. We are also delighted to collaborate again with Arup on another successful data centre project.

The ceremony featured traditional blessing and incense-offering ritual to wish for the project's safe and successful completion, and we are honored to be part of the celebration.

The Goodman HKG09 Data Centre will provide a high-tier data centre facility in response to the increasing demand from rapidly expanding cloud computing, financial services, and AI, supporting Hong Kong's development as the premier regional digital gateway and an international innovation and technology centre.

What an unforgettable Dragon Boat Festival! Our 𝗪𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗹𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗼𝗻𝘀 took to the waters at the Shangri-La Stanley International Dragon Boat Championships, and we couldn’t be prouder of the results.

We walked away with the 𝗠𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗶-𝗟𝗮 𝗠𝗶𝘅𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗦𝗶𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝘂𝗽, placing 20th out of 107 fiercely competitive teams, and breaking our 𝗮𝗹𝗹-𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱! 🚀

Every drop of sweat and every beat of the paddling proved the power of WT family. Huge thanks to our incredible paddlers and everyone who cheered us on. We didn't just break a record; we showed what unity can achieve!

Our company’s special speedsters force brought the energy at the 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗦𝘂𝗻 𝗛𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗞𝗮𝗶 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 on Jan 11! We took part in both the Half Marathon and the 10K Run—what a challenge!

The race took place at Sai Kung Pak Tam Chung Country Park, where the trails were steep, winding, and definitely not for the faint-hearted—between the rocky crunch, sandy stretches, and endless climbs, it was a real test of grit!

At the recent award ceremony, 𝗧𝗼𝗻𝘆 𝗛𝗼 from our office, who won the Half Marathon — Fastest Chief Executive, was presented with a cup. 🏆🏅

The HKUST Medical Education and Research Complex, designed by WTPL, will become a new landmark and gateway for the southern campus of HKUST. The Complex conforms to the master grid of the HKUST masterplan while complementing the iconic oval-shaped HKUST Shaw Auditorium. A vortex-like public plaza is created between the two HKUST landmarks. The plaza serves to connect campus pedestrians to the southern end of the Main Concourse, and provides a brand new civic heart for campus life.

A clear podium-and-tower composition brings teaching, research, and social spaces together in one integrated hub. Large atria, visible circulation, grand steps, and landscaped terraces foster openness, interaction, and learning beyond the classroom.

Expressed as a pristine glass cube, the building embodies sharpness, precision and innovations, symbolizing the cutting-edge academic achievements of HKUST, while maximizing daylight, comfort, and long-term adaptability. We are delighted to be collaborating again with Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM), who is the conceptual designer of the building façade and interior design of the Complex.

WTPL was also the Executive Architect of Shaw Auditorium.

On 24 November 2025, the Greater Bay Area professional title assessment for engineering professionals celebration ceremony「粵港澳大灣區職稱評價工程專業人才慶祝典禮」was held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Organised by the Hong Kong Institute of Architects together with the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers and the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors, the event received strong support from the Development Bureau, the Education & Technology Department of the Liaison Office, and relevant Guangdong authorities. In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary for Development (Works), Ir Ricky Lau emphasised the value of professional title alignment in supporting the country’s 14th Five-Year Plan and strengthening industry competitiveness. Notably, two of our colleagues successfully participated in the assessment—one attained 正高级工程师（建築學）, while the other achieved 高级工程师（建築學）. The ceremony concluded with a closing address by Mr. David Lam, the Under Secretary for Development, followed by photo-taking with all guests and the first batch of certified members to mark this memorable industry occasion.
