DESTINATION THESSALONIKI | BUCHAREST 🇬🇷🇷🇴

Today, with our visit to the Mayor of Bucharest, we concluded the first DESTINATION THESSALONIKI initiative in the Romanian capital.

It was a particularly meaningful opportunity to present Thessaloniki as a vibrant, authentic and year-round destination and to connect with Romanian tourism professionals and stakeholders.

The main event was hosted at the Embassy of Greece in Bucharest, where we presented the many faces of our city — its 2,300-year history, cultural heritage, gastronomy, contemporary lifestyle and unique experiences.

As the Thessaloniki Tourism Organization, in close collaboration with the Municipality of Thessaloniki and Thessaloniki Travel, we are committed to building strong international partnerships and creating new opportunities for Thessaloniki in key markets.

A first step in Bucharest — and hopefully the beginning of many more.

With a clear strategic vision and strong market focus, the Thessaloniki Tourism Organization, in joint participation with the Region of Central Macedonia, made a dynamic and impactful presence at the ITB China 2026 International Travel Trade Show in Shanghai.

During the exhibition, we have held a series of targeted pre-scheduled B2B meetings with leading travel professionals, tour operators, and media representatives, showcasing Thessaloniki’s diverse tourism offering—a unique combination of rich history, vibrant culture, renowned gastronomy, and authentic year-round hospitality.

As the Chinese market remains a key strategic priority for the Thessaloniki Tourism Organization, the strong interest generated during the exhibition confirms the growing appeal of Thessaloniki as an emerging destination for Chinese travellers. Honored to have participated in the exclusive B2B tourism promotion event held today at the Greek Ambassadorial Residence in Prague!
Organized by the GNTO Office for Poland & Czech Republic, the event highlighted incredible Greek destinations accessible within a 100km drive for independent travelers landing in Athens and Thessaloniki—especially now, with Aegean Airlines’ new seasonal direct flight connecting Prague and Thessaloniki!
Our General Director, Dr. Kyriaki Oudatzi, proudly presented Thessaloniki, showcasing our city’s rich cultural tapestry, vibrant culinary scene, and unique identity as a top-tier city-break and year-round destination.
The event was held in the distinguished presence of H.E. the Ambassador of Greece to the Czech Republic, Mr. Dinos Konstantinou whose support underscores the importance of strengthening tourism ties between our nations.
Through fruitful B2B meetings and collaboration with the Association of Czech Travel Agencies and Tour Operators (ACKKA), we connected with key Czech travel professionals eager to offer their clients fresh, authentic, and unforgettable holiday options in Central Macedonia.
