The exhibition entitled " *cringe* " invites you to delve into the fascinating world of digital culture and more specifically into cringe itself. A concept with multiple implications, understandings at the same time a concept that has managed to unite various identities of people who are disparate from each other.
Cringe has become a central element of online culture and the exhibition aims to explore this complex and universal feeling. From mixed media installations to immersive video art, the exhibition aspires to spark thoughts influenced by our contemporary digital and physical existence.

The works of Aram Bartholl, Kristen Leo, Marsunev, Bill Posters & Daniel Howe, Noura Tafeche and Aphrodite HGW, create a familiar chaos that the viewer is invited to put in order to gain a deeper understanding of their current human identity.
At the same time, they approach and redefine a plethora of social dynamics, inviting the audience to take an equally critical approach to the digital and non-digital reality they experience.

*cringe*, celebrates the intersection where art and technology intertwine to offer new perspectives on our rapidly changing world.

aka presenting her book shot by at .hypo.athens go check it out.

Book excerpt:

“YIAYIA was my first word.

Greek for ‘grandmother’, it has a harsher sound, which suits my own Greek grandmother down to the ground. Like many Greek Yiayiades, my own is not a cutesy, cuddly granny sat at home doing the knitting. She’s a grafter, a hardened woman who came of age during the post-war years in which most of Greece was still in poverty and experiencing civil unrest of its own. ‘Grandmother’ seems too soft of a word to use for my gutsy Yiayia, who savagely pulls the innards out of fish and slops them aggressively into the bowl she’s working with, is prone to angry outbursts and still sweats over an open flame to prepare a meal.” # : .charitonidi

Κι-νήματα: Art promenade in Spetses

Eight female artists design their own contemporary flag
With the view to the bicentenary anniversary of the Greek Revolution of 1821, the group exhibition Κι-νήματα invites eight female artists to design their own flag, inspired by the flag of Laskarina Bouboulina.

The artists are invited to formulate their own contemporary proposal and create new symbols that portray our era. What would their personal flag look like in 2021?
The art promenade will take place from 26.08.2021 – 26.09.2021 at the most central road of Spetses, along the coast of Saint Nicholas beach, so they can be accessible.

The group exhibition Κι-νήματα aims at highlighting and examining the elements that represent a personal flag, paying tribute to the role of women in 1821 but also tracing the path of its evolution till today. The artists are turning their gaze to the past and delve into the historical development, while still maintaining a view to modern and contemporary reality. How would the historian of the future decode our current times?
After the end of the exhibition, the flags will remain as a legacy at the Bouboulina Museum, while in September an educational program will be implemented for a class of the primary school of Spetses.
