Protect your borders through every season.
Applying bark to your borders in early autumn helps protect plant roots throughout winter and into the year ahead.
During the colder months, bark acts as an insulating layer, helping to shield shallow roots from frost damage that can weaken or kill plants. As winter turns to spring and rainfall increases, bark also helps the soil retain moisture. This stored moisture can then support plants during periods of drought and summer heat, helping your borders stay healthier for longer.

After weeks of dry spells, it may seem like heavy rain is what your lawn needs. Too much rain, though, can cause waterlogging.

Because of the long drought, soil becomes compacted and can struggle to absorb large amounts of water quickly. This leads to the water sitting on the surface longer, reducing oxygen levels around grass roots.

If your lawn looks like it has a lot of rain sitting on it, consider the following:
· Avoid walking on saturated areas
· Hold off on mowing
· Aerate your lawn to improve drainage

While a little standing water after heavy rainfall is normal, prolonged waterlogging can impact lawns' health and growth.
