✅ If you leave it until November and your Chimney Sweep discovers that your system has problems (liner rotten through etc) then it'll be unlikely that you will find anyone to rectify this in the busy season. This can result in you losing your stove for the winter or having to pay over the odds for repairs.

What's the purpose of a Smoke Test?

These are a Smoke Test 2, otherwise known as a Smoke Evacuation Check.

Primarily used to assess the draw of a system but also to check smoke is exiting out of the correct flue (indicating it's structural sound internally) and to check for leaks around the appliance itself.
