It’s been a while. And finally, we appear to have a kitchen that works. It will never be perfect, due to the scars left by the imbeciles I hand-picked to design and install it, but it’s somewhere near. However both wife and I had noticed that the freezer door would click loudly when opening. Well, I found the reason…and no surprises for guessing it was down to the Guild of Master Bodgers🤦‍♂️🤣
Both strips that pull the inner door open had been mounted at different depths. So when closing, the lower channel was actually disengaging - hence the ‘click’ when opening! Obviously never heard of set squares at Innovations either…🤦‍♂️ see video in comments for a short video showing how the depths differed…

Welcome if you are new here. I hope this will help you to make an informed choice on who NOT to use for your next kitchen or bathroom. Do try and find the time to scroll to the start of this page if you can. Even as recently as yesterday I am still finding things wrong. Screws are missing holding the worktop cupboards and corner pieces, discovered when I spent an hour or so adjusting all of the hinges on the doors so they actually align…

There are some interesting posts for Innovations Kitchen and Bathrooms (or whatever they might be called this week…) on Google - also worth looking at if you need more information on how this company/person operates.

Here is the review I left. Scroll to the bottom, and be entertained by the company’s reply.

If you look at some of the previous poor reviews (like I wish I did) you will notice that ‘putting procedures in place’ is a common theme. I have come to the conclusion that this really means ‘register a new business with companies house in case I get sued’.
Despite their response, at no point were we EVER offered a discount. Our original fitting quote was £2800 plus the dreaded…. £3360, with the promise of no hidden extras. Below is the first invoice sent…£4989! £400 was later removed from the invoice after first admitting that none of the staff were suitably qualified to carry out the electrical bodges, err sorry, work they did. Brian stated that (in reference to the additional double sockets added) he was unaware this work took place - I’m not quite sure how he was expecting the under-cupboard lighting that he personally added to our order with his Kutchenhaus hat on was going to work without it.

I never did see the socks…🤣

Well, well, well. It looks like the page of ‘Innovations Kitchens & Bathrooms, Tiles has been removed from Facebook, I wonder why?🤔
Maybe the company is about to re-invent itself…possibly to shake off bad publicity? Maybe *another* disgruntled customer has taken them to court and won? Who knows, but it does look like the owner is busy registering yet more business names…make of that what you will…🤨🤠🤠

Fast forward a few months, and piece by piece, I have pretty much rebuilt the kitchen. It will never be perfect, and I strongly suspect we will end up replacing it again at some stage, as it holds so many bad memories now.
Anyway, as I was finally at the point where I could actually apply caulk and sealant (properly…), I give everything a thorough clean…and this panel literally falls off! I’m not at all surprised to be honest after everything else I’ve seen and experienced in this room. The good new is, there really isn’t much else that can fall off now…except for one thing I have noticed which we will see in a future post…

And back to the kitchen cabinet…or at least, where it was. The following pictures show the plug socket, err relocation, and the huge slot cut in the plasterboard to accommodate the side panel of the cabinet itself, instead of profile trimming the side panel instead. Oh yeah, not pictured, but the right hand rear cabinet adjustable leg had been broken, and instead additional pieces of makeshift spacers and been used in an attempt to hide the issue, which probably goes some way to explaining why the cabinet wasn’t even upright🤦🏻‍♂️
Innovation, the new word in Wrexham for ‘doing a totally crap job (twice), and then trying to charge more for it than originally quoted’…

Ceiling cladding - part 1. Yet again, absolutely first-class bodging, wouldn’t expect anything less! From large footprints and mud left all over the fitted ceiling, screws not countersunk so that they left visible dents in the cladding, a tape measure that obviously varied in length every time it was used, the trims siliconed in place to hide the poor cuts, and even a roll of double-sided tape left in place to hold the ceiling up, we had it all…!!! And I can’t prove it, but I strongly suspect that the cladding and the batons were also second hand, judging by the visible fading on the cladding, and the staples visible in the batons - staples weren’t used on either of the attempts at doing the job…

Kitchen wall cupboards…part 3. Other elements of the cupboard installation was just as bad, but sadly not very photogenic to be able to record for your entertainment. However, various screws has just been ploughed into the sides, so rather than tightening cupboards against each other they were often left with a gap, or they had ended up being overtightened so that the screw heads were buried into the chipboard, or they had simply ripped themselves out again. The cupboard in the reel below to the right of the sink had suffered from the fate of Innovation - not only was the end piece completely misaligned (note the top when compared to the door) but the cupboard was actually resting on the splashback below, which in turn resulted in the upper fixing of the left side of the cupboard not engaging with the fixing rail at all…

Kitchen wall cupboards…part 2. So why the glued on pieces seen in my last post? Because the cupboards had been mounted slightly higher on one side of the cooker when compared to the other side!
However this possibly turned out to be a blessing is disguise (if you can call it that), as the main fixing rail for the set of cupboards concerned was already pulling out of the wall…🙈
