This is probably my favourite project I've done to date!

A brand new install on a massive 22m long, 6m deep garden room, which had 4 separate areas including a garage, clinic, veranda and gym. The scope of my work included a full containment install of conduit for the whole building, sleek metal clad accessories and wireless switching. Visible conduit was kept to a minimum, with the clinic and the gym being mostly wired from the rooms adjacent, or externally from the rear of the building, with conduit for the lights being hidden behind the ceiling joists, out of sight from the front.

I really, really enjoyed this job, which the lads and I managed to iron out in just a Saturday, Sunday and Saturday morning, plus a return one evening for me to finish, when the kitchen is installed. It was a privilege to bring the customer's vision to life, and they were very happy with the quality of the finish and communication throughout the process.

This was my first big, brand new installation, and thankfully it went smoothly from start to finish, and I would love to do more jobs like this.

I truly do any and all electrical work, from changing a light switch to a full fit out of this beast 💪

It was an absolute pleasure to assist Michelle at the Sorrel Horse Shottisham by installing a new cooker circuit for the cafe set to open in the next few weeks!

My new cable was in keeping with what was previously installed, with a new metal clad isolation switch and some crisp white conduit in the corner to keep things discreet.

As always I installed fire rated fixings to prevent cables falling down should the worst happen, and fully tested the circuit, so it's ready for use!

I often end up trying out whichever pub is closest after a job, so it was nice to only have to cross the car park for a well deserved pint!

Always Busy ⚡

From consumer unit upgrades to new electrics for the garden, prepping properties to be rented out, replacement downlights and bathroom fans, I'm doing it all at the minute!

My business is dual sided, busy during the working week working for other firms, and busy during the evenings and weekends working for myself.

For the past couple of months, I've been heavily involved in the electrical fit out side of the revamp of Snape Maltings Britten Pears Arts building. The project draws to an end in June, so while there's still a busy few weeks left to go, here's a few pictures of what I've been up to!

This has been a great opportunity to gain some more experience in my weaker areas, pushing me on to be a well rounded electrician, capable of everything within the trade!

This week I replaced the standard pendant in this Rendlesham new build with a lovely fitting, centering it above the table at the client's request. ✅

I managed to extend the cable causing no damage, leaving a small hole where the old pendant was to be filled, which was a massive win. While here I also installed a second switch in the garage so the lights could be switched from both the main door and the side door.

I recently installed a Tado smart thermostat for a customer in Ipswich, upgrading their heating and hot water controls so everything can now be managed easily from their phone.

While isolating the power, I came across this old BS3036 fuseboard dating back to the 1960s — well below modern safety standards.
Even more concerning, the customer had been using an extension lead outdoors with no RCD protection. In the event of a fault, this could have resulted in serious injury or worse.

I advised on upgrading the consumer unit and carried out an EICR on the spot, so everything is ready for a safe upgrade once materials arrive.

I always take the time to properly explain things to my customers and make sure they understand any risks — something I take a lot of pride in!

This customer messaged me only last night, needing a pullcord removed, and a new switch installed on the wall outside, prior to the bathroom being renovated starting Monday.

⚠️ Smoke alarms should be replaced every 10 years, but a lot of homes still have older ones that are past their best. Signs they're due a replacement is discolouring and turning a nasty yellow, beep intermittently despite changing the battery, or a system that is not interlinked.

I’m always doing smoke alarm replacements and upgrades to modern interlinked alarms to help keep your home properly protected.

It's been fun, Felixstowe 💯

Today was my last day working as a maintenance electrician up the cranes at Britain's biggest port, a bitter sweet end to the year. Next year I'll be back to installing, set to be busier than ever!

It has been a privilege learning and working with such massive machines, I'll miss this job but I'm also excited to be pulling in massive cables and installing containment on other sites!

Thanks to everyone who has followed me, or used me as a contractor in 2025, it's been a phenomenal year and one I will not forget.

Looking forward to a Christmas break ⚡
