💡 One lighting system, with plenty of room to change things later.

Julian talks through how the InLite Smart Hub 150 connects to a cable running across the garden, allowing fittings to be added where they’re needed throughout the space.

✨ Even the cable itself has been thought about. Once a fitting is removed, the resin cable reseals itself, so the system can keep adapting as the garden does.

Big sweeping lawns, crisp steel edging and dense prairie planting give this space a strong look, while the meadow areas soften everything up around it. 🌿

There’s plenty going on across the garden, but it all works together without feeling overdone.

And at 2,700m², there’s a lot of garden to take in. ✨

🪵 The Boardwalk Garden has so many good little moments throughout it.

The boardwalk leads you through the planting, past the water and around the landscaped riverbed, with each part of the garden feeling slightly different as you move through it. 🌿

There’s plenty of detail throughout, but the whole space still feels really calm and natural. It's definitely one you could happily wander around for a while. ☺️

✨ This is what we mean when we talk about detail.

Julian picks out the mitred joints in the stonework here. It’s a small part of the garden, and probably something most people would walk straight past, but getting details like this right is what helps everything flow and feel properly considered. 🙌

As Julian always says, “Detail can’t be and never is, added later.”

And a lot of credit to the team for the finish on this one. 👏

☀️ Good outdoor spaces shouldn’t only work on perfect summer days.

It’s one of the reasons we use Pratic pergolas within our garden designs. They give you more control over the space, helping manage sun, shade and shelter without compromising how the garden looks.

🌿 And when the pergola, planting, paving and surrounding landscape are considered together, the end result feels much more natural than simply adding a structure later.

Even the quieter corners of a garden deserve a bit of thought. 🌿

This side area could easily have been left as a dead space, but Dove Grey granite and stepping stone slabs, matching the main patio, give it a clear purpose and keep it tied into the rest of the garden.

Nothing overcomplicated, just a simple detail that makes the whole space work better. ✨

And with room still there for a possible phase two, there’s plenty of potential left in this garden too. ☺️

This corner of the Brighton garden. 👌

We built this bespoke curved bench ourselves, designed to wrap around the fire pit and create a proper little spot to sit, switch off and enjoy the garden.

The smooth concrete keeps it clean and contemporary, while the Ipe detailing adds a bit of warmth and helps it sit naturally within the wider space.

Definitely one of those details that helps bring the whole area together. 🔥

🌿 There’s a reason the Opera continues to be one of our favourite Pratic pergolas.

Its clean, architectural design gives it real presence in a garden, while the adjustable louvred roof lets the space change throughout the day depending on the light, weather and how you’re using it.

✨ Add lighting, screens and glazing into the design and it becomes a genuinely versatile part of the garden.

A pergola should never feel like an afterthought. Done properly, it belongs in the wider design from day one.
