That time again, end of the month round up.

⚡️ Various call outs attending to all the small jobs from replacing lighting pull cord to fault finding on a socket circuit causing the ground floor sockets to trip.

⚡️ Carrying out a number of electrical tasks for a local school before the summer holidays.
As you can see from the image one of the window switches smashed to bits.

⚡️ Number of distribution board updates complete with testing and inspection.

End of June already! 🤯

Weather has been an interesting one…☀️🥵⛈️

Few call outs to attend to due to the thunderstorms causing power outage to an outbuilding and another causing severe ingress of water damage to the ceiling therefore causing a light fitting to fall down.

In between all that here’s a few jobs carried out,

Distribution board updated complete with new earth rod.
The existing earth rod was severely bent including undersized earth therefore it wasn’t providing a suitable earth to the whole installation.
Amongst testing the property the gas wasn’t bonded and the garage installation wasn’t fused down correctly, all sockets spurred from one socket point. 😬🤦🏻‍♂️

New sub board installed complete with new supply.
Upgraded florescent lighting to LED improving the quality of light.

Meanwhile elsewhere following on from an EICR, replacement of cooker circuit due to being fused incorrectly including not following manufacturers instructions to wire appliance using HO5/7 flex.
Emergency lighting failed 3 hour battery test including a damaged unit…. All replaced with a few upgraded to twin spot due to covering a large hall area.

Bit late on this post for May end of the month post…. It’s been a busy one 😅

Customer had a large office space built in their garden creating a great space to work in with only a few steps away from their home.

New supply installed to feed separate distribution board complete with new earth rod.

LED lighting providing great illumination.

Rointe WiFi controlled heaters either side of office providing a perfect balanced heat for the colder months.
Customer can operate this via an app to ensure heaters can warm the space up before starting work.

Data cable installed completing a WiFi mesh network.

Outside lighting operated via PIR sensor providing illumination as the customer walks to and from the office.

Loved this job!

This one in particular was an example given to my NICEIC inspector on my assessment who provided excellent feedback, which was greatly received. 😎

April end of the month round up….

⚡️Upgraded existing lights to LED panel lights at a local school . 💡

This involved some extensive work due to existing cabling fixed into existing light fittings and cables not adequately supported.

Adapted to existing conduit ensuring of metal supports throughout.
All new light fittings on a Klick system allowing for easy future maintenance.

⚡️ New power supply installed to outbuilding/garage.

All wiring accessories metal clad complete with conduit drops providing mechanical protection.

LED batten lights & provisions for a water heater as customer wanted to have a small utility area.

March end of the month check in….

Earlier this year I had a call out to investigate garden lights tripping.
Upon this visit I noticed multiple factors contributing towards this,

- Damaged wiring enclosures.

- No sealant gel used to ensure boxes on the ground/soil are protected from damp/moisture.

- Cables not suitably glanded therefore not providing earthing to the outer sheath.

- Existing lights used not suitable for the location due to not meeting IP ratings.

All of this was addressed this month, from SWA cables all suitably glanded, earthed and terminated into new wiring enclosures which have been sealed.

Conservatory lights upgraded to something more subtle allowing the customer to once again enjoy their garden space.

Thankfully the weather was on my side and the bonus was seeing the customers video of the rear garden showing Hedgehogs living in the habitat they’ve created! 🦔 🍂 🪵 🏠

End of the month already with Spring almost amongst us. 🤩

Despite being a short month, it’s been a busy one.
Here’s a few of the jobs carried out….

LOCAL SCHOOL LIGHTING PROJECT

- Removed all florescent lighting and replaced with LED panel lights.

- New basket installed above ceilings to support new cables.

- Unforeseen exposed live terminals above the ceilings 🤯

CALL OUT TO A LOCAL FOOTBALL CLUB

- Overheating/thermal damage to a number of cables operating shower units

UPDATE & IMPROVED VENTILATION TO BATHROOM & TOILET

- All old/existing ducting showed significant sagging throughout its run. This contained large amounts of water which could lead to legionnaires disease if left.

- Old system completely removed with the main rigid outlet pipe adapted to ensure the new insulated ducting remain level to both inline fan motors.

Safe to say some of the wiring located inside both signs appeared a little worse for wear and some question marks on the overall safety of the install.

In fact as you can see from the images, some of the cables showed severe signs of perishing from the heat of the components and UV lighting.

My task….

🔹 Remove all damaged wiring and components. ✅

🔹Install LED COB tape within extrusion. ✅

🔹Customer 100% satisfied with the result…. ✅

Despite the poor weather this January, the finish result and the can of Rio was worth it 😎
