A lot of people say they’ve thought about solar.
Then nothing happens.

Not because they’re against it. Usually it’s because they assume it’ll cost a fortune, turn the house upside down, or be a massive faff.

That might have been true years ago. It isn’t really now.

We wrote a short piece about the real reason people quietly put solar off and why the assumptions around it are a bit out of date.

Worth a read if solar has been sitting on your “maybe one day” list.

Energy prices are rising again.

Following tensions in Iran and the wider Middle East, analysts are warning UK household energy bills could increase by around £160 a year, pushing the typical annual bill close to £1,800 or maybe more.

Why? Because the UK is still heavily exposed to global gas markets, and conflicts thousands of miles away quickly affect what we pay to heat and power our homes.

One way to reduce that exposure is by generating more of your own electricity.

More than 2 million UK homes already have solar panels, helping them protect themselves from rising and volatile energy prices.

See here for more on what's happening and why solar is becoming an increasingly sensible option. https://warmauk.com/blog/solar-rising-energy-prices/

Most retrofit programmes cost money.

But what if some of them also created a return?

A new model from Octopus EnergyOctopus Energy called Tenant Power allows social housing providers to install solar panels and battery storage, helping tenants reduce their electricity bills while creating a financial return linked to the system for the landlord.

When combined with Octopus Energy’s Cosy heat pump, the potential savings for households can increase even further.

For housing associations and local authorities under pressure to tackle fuel poverty, damp and mould and rising energy costs, this could change how retrofit is approached.

Warma UK is a Cosy Accredited Installer, meaning we can install the Cosy heat pump alongside solar and battery systems where housing providers want to explore the full model.

If you work in social housing and would like to understand how this could work across your housing stock, get in touch to book a quick call.

Installation quality is what decides whether heat pumps actually work in real homes.

The Octopus Cosy heat pump is built differently, compact, intelligently controlled, and designed to work in the UK with smart tariffs rather than against them.

Warma UK is now an Octopus Energy Cosy Accredited Installer, one of just four companies approved to install Cosy in the UK following technical assessment, training and quality review by Octopus Energy.

Every winter, electricity bills spike as longer nights, more heating and more time indoors all add up. But if you already have solar panels (or are planning to), adding a solar battery can make a huge impact.

It allows you to store your daytime energy and use it in the evenings when electricity is most expensive.
