🚨🚨 SERIOUS RAT PROBLEM HERE 🚨🚨
This is our second visit to this property, where heavy rat activity has been confirmed within the loft cavity and the adjacent bathroom area.
During our inspections we have found:
• Multiple rat droppings throughout the affected areas
• Heavy feeding on rodenticide bait
• 6 rats caught so far using traps, both internally and externally
• Continued external conditions that are likely supporting the infestation
Recommendations were made last week regarding the amount of rubbish and waste outside the property. The area was initially cleaned, which was a positive step, but as you can see from the video, ongoing maintenance is key.
If rubbish and food waste are allowed to build up again, they can continue to attract rats and provide an easy food source. Pest control treatment can reduce the existing population, but long-term control depends heavily on keeping these areas clean and removing the conditions that support rodent activity.
We have used Selontra rodenticide on this site. Selontra contains cholecalciferol and works differently to traditional anticoagulant rodenticides. It can be a good choice on challenging sites with heavy activity, particularly where rapid control is required or where previous anticoagulant exposure may be a concern.
The heavy bait consumption we have seen here shows just how active the infestation is and why ongoing monitoring and replenishment are essential.
Our next steps are to:
• Replenish the Selontra bait where required
• Continue monitoring traps and activity levels
• Remove any further rodents caught
• Reassess the loft, bathroom and external areas
• Look at the possibility of inspecting the drains to identify whether the drainage system could be providing an access route
The key message here is simple:
Cleaning the area once is a good start, but maintaining it is what makes the difference.
Without consistent waste management and removal of food sources, there is a much greater risk of continued activity and reinfestation.
