Sunday Garden Tips: Don't miss your lavender window! ✂️💜

Late August is the golden window for pruning your lavender! If your plants have finished flowering and the spikes are turning grey-brown, spending 10 minutes on them today will keep them full, bushy, and blooming for years to come.

Here is the golden rule for trimming lavender:

✂️ Cut the flower stems back, along with about 1 inch (2.5 cm) of this year's green leafy growth.

🚫 NEVER cut back into the hard, old, grey wood. Lavender rarely grows back from old wood, so stay strictly within the soft green stems!

Trimming now gives the plant time to form fresh green growth before winter hits, preventing it from getting leggy and sprawling next spring.

💡 Bonus tip: Don't throw away those spent stems! Bundle them up and tie them with string to hang inside for a natural, subtle room freshener.
